Beginning of game wagon bug

The Helgen sequence is heavily scripted - quite a few mods cause problems with it. Get rid of all of the mods except what you need to create your character - most of them don't use scripts and shouldn't cause any problems.

Helgen is supposed to be both an intro - telling you a little about the world, and a tutorial where you have to do certain Scripted things to keep moving. You really don't have any choices that matter during the sequence. No matter which guy you follow you will do the same things in the same sequence. You would have to really work at it to manage to get yourself killed. You are supposed to survive the tutorial. The scripted tutorial ends when you leave the cave - at that point - make a permanent save BEFORE adding any mods - then add your mods, run BOSS to get a reasonable load order and, when you have a working game with mods - make another permanent save. Those 2 saves are your go to saves for troubleshooting later problems.

bben...sticky post this on this thread :P

To anyone reading this thread: Get a nice save like bben said, or try Live Another Life (an alternate start mod that bypasses the Helgen sequence). There are reasons beyond belief why the carriage ride gets skewed during that ride. Basically...anything that jostles the camera, carriages, horses...touches the path (navmesh)...

Just don't install any mods..or use NMM/MO/Steam to make a clean save from a Vanilla only installation until after Helgen.

i've had this just recently only strangely outside a few Mods, nothing changed. Same spare controller (because before one tiny detail my 360 usb gamepad died bearly out of winterhold) i got to a point where i was exploiting bugs or using a few mods to well make things a tad too easy, i put the game down for awhile finally after asking a few friends for suggestions on Content addition mods (mods that added content akin to a Scenario pack/mini expansion/wtfever you want to call it. ) and i ended up experincing this bug but not like what some to get it and what seems to only hap-hazardly fixes it.

Anytime i had Anything remotly classified as a gamepad registered in active devices (according to device manager) (a small usb wireless combo keybaord& mouse i use for my lil raspberrypi2.which i use on this pc when i want to lay back web crawl from comfort of the bed, even gets considered one well cause Chinese cheapo devices you never know the shenannigans they pull.)) Anyways, anytime a gamepad was connected, the camera would spin shake or feel like i'm seeing first hand something straight out of the Exorcist. Disconnecting any offending controller Stops making it happen. cart moves fine nothing goes wrong, and resuming from the autosave w/ one connected all is happy once more for the lazy gamer, for Sh*ts and giggles had a friend stop over w/ his wired 360 controller seeing if this would exclude em, Nope this bug for me doesnt discriminate. but what seems to be the root of this atleast i observed is that "small tiny detail" in change of my setup since i last picked up Skyrim.

The damned bloody videocard~!, before i had an rather past its prime aging "XFX" Radeon HD5750. with that never had an issue w/ skyrim (well other than streaming and playing at the same time then i'd kiss the FPS gods just to get something above 20+) now i have a MSI Geforce 760 "OC" (factory overclocked) as a replacement (so many games just couldnt run too well anymore w/ the old one.) swapping back to the radeon, the cart bug doesnt happen. it hasnt been a matter of display, resolution, screensize, display settings Nada, just the new card, enforcing vsync for Skyrim and PFFT. no more glitch! but so many videos or screencaps i see its mainly the camera going awol or acting like the player's on an acid trip. for me its to where i can see the cart's Wheels clipping thru into the cart thru the floor or into the npc's you ride with. making the damned thing bounce you or the camera around like you the wheels and ground are coated w/ Portal 2's Repulsion gel @_@. other than Vsync being the matter i dont know why its just a lil diffrent for me or a matter of the videocards.

Whenever I start a new game, the intro starts but the carts aren't moving at all. the guys talk to me up untill "A nord's last thought should be of home", then it's complete silence and nothing happens.

Exactly my issue. So I toggled free camera and had a look around. All the riders were swaying, but the horses were stiff, tails back and had their mouths wide open (T-pose for a horse?)

So I re-ran GenerateFNISforUsers and clicked the de-install creatures button.

The horses and wagons started moving again...

Mine starts me out with what sounds like a horse dropping from a damaging height. After the black screen where it intros the title "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" shows up. Next I "wake up" where what seems to be where the driver would sit on the wagon except not where he would be sitting, but where his feet would be. I see General Tullius right behind front wagon more or less just standing there. Arms straight to his side and just sliding forward without moving. The wagon I am on approaches him. He gets stuck in the side of the wagon for about a minute making damaging sounds, then get ran over by the wagon. The wagon continues foreword. The three in the back talking to themselves (almost normally. a little delayed between each piece of dialogue). The two wagons finally get to the gate of Helgen. Suddenly the front wagon just continues walking into the closed gate. My wagon then collides with the front wagon. My wagon's horse and the front wagon's horse then attempt to climb the right side of the wall just off the side of the gate. They get stuck and that's where the story ends. I have taken EVERY SINGLE mod off and even tried starting it without SKSE, re-installed it twice and it still happens. Same story.

So many issues for that :blush:

Just reinstalled Skyrim and jumped into flipping and flying Intro-Carriages.... From my playings half a year ago i can remeber that scripted mods are a big problem in the intro (so just activate them AFTER Helgen), so i'm running a nearly vanilla Skyrim, no mods installed, only SKSE and enboost.

Because enboost exploded my fps and i remembers that there were issues mit mor than 60 fps with the engine limiting frame rate with NVIDIA Control Panel was working, but my mouse pointer was moving like a sleeping horse after that.

I had to limit the fps in the enblocal.ini

[LIMITER]
WaitBusyRenderer=true
EnableFPSLimit=false
FPSLimit=59.0

Now i tried to start Skyrim two dozen times, and the intro was running fine every time..

use L.O.O.T. to sort your load order(restart game recommended)
and use Wrye Bash 306.11 or high to create a bashed patch

both will help with CTDs

and mods 76 thru 79 only need one of each of those patches not both
and disable all animal mods until after the wagons save when getting off wagon in helgan and reactivate animal mods

i have had problems with mod 134 causing crashes(even with a bashed patch)

Some unintended hilarity but a broken start... the horse was randomly floating sideways, I nearly threw up the camera was spinning so fast, and apparently the spinning cart killed half the imperials, don't know where the hell Hedvar was when he was talking to me but Ulfric was caught behind a fence and just kept walking into it. When we got out of the cart there were dead bodies everywhere and a soldier floating half a bodylength above the ground, until we stoppe,d at which point he dropped like a stone. Going to try tweaking the armor mod and see how it goes. My god though. That start.... I hope the snapshots took, I'll have to beat them out of steam since I loaded through SKSE.

Both of these guys are correct. If you have a heavily modded game the intro will likely never run correctly. The solution is to disable all mods and go through start sequence then re-enable them after OR install Live another life mod.

Another option could be to attempt to optimize your scripting system with Chesko's recommendations on his Frostfall mod, it greatly improved the performance of my scripting system.

If your problem is with placing tents and other camping items, you can either try the below Skyrim.ini tweaks, or try turning off Advanced Object Placement in either the Mod Configuration Menu, Gameplay page, or in Survival Settings, Configure. Using this mode, you will just drop camping items and then click them to place them. They will always be placed perfectly flat, so try to find a flat spot to camp.
This problem can occur if your scripting system is being overstressed in the presence of several script-intensive (or inefficient) mods, or because your Papyrus section of your Skyrim.ini file has been modified with a set of non-default values that can cause issues. It can also be due to the speed of your CPU. You can try making the following adjustment to your Skyrim.ini file. If a line below is not present in your INI file, you can safely add it.
First, try using the default settings, if they have been somehow changed.
[Papyrus]
fUpdateBudgetMS=1.2
fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=1.2
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=500.0
iMinMemoryPageSize=128
iMaxMemoryPageSize=512
iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=76800
In order to increase the amount of CPU time and memory given to the script system, you can try the following. This may increase performance.
[Papyrus]
fUpdateBudgetMS=800.0
fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=800.0
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000.0
iMinMemoryPageSize=256
iMaxMemoryPageSize=512
iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=153600
If that does not seem to fix the problem, you can try this as well. This is mostly a default configuration, with extra time given to the Update Budget values.
[Papyrus]
fUpdateBudgetMS=20.0
fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=20.0
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=500.0
iMinMemoryPageSize=128
iMaxMemoryPageSize=512
iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=76800

I tried another runthrough just to see if i could get more wacky pictures without disabling anything, and it worked perfectly, though there was a bumpy moment where I thought things might go south quickly. Have been playing the game since, the only people who died at the start were the ones who were supposed to. Man, that first go round though....

BTW, I'm running all DLC, all the unofficial patches, A quality World Map with Roads, Civil war overhaul, expanded towns and cities with patches, Falskaar, hearthfire multiple adoptions, immersive armors, immersive college of winterhold, moonstone castle, opulent outfits, climates of tamriel, racemenu, Skyui, extensible follower framework (IIRC, it's EFF but I don't remember if I got the last F right) wearable lanterns, an uncapper, RS children overhaul and some patches, and a handful of extremely minor cheats (glowing ore, glowing unread books, and lockpick pro because my ears are old and I find trying to figure out whether something's been mined or read already quite tedious.

At level 26, once I got past the intro, I've had ONE bug that required a console fix. When I was running no significant mods, I had mutliple glitches, often game breaking, and it took 3 different characters to get to the point where I'd done most of what I wanted to do with the base game and DLC without much alteration. So so far, I'd say the mods have improved stabilty quite a lot and made the game a lot less annoying and a lot more fun. (if you're looking at the mods, I pretty much zeroed in on every part of the game that irritated me on the full runthrough, lol! The whole "forget everything you knew about this thing you're great at" just doesn't remotely sit right for me, and the kids are creepy as heck.)

When the first fully modded run one went wrong, it went wrong from pretty much moment one. Soon as I woke up the world was spinning, and it took me half the ride to helgen to figure out it wasn't just a super sensitive mouse. The sideways horse with the carriage struts going through it was a clue. It wasn't until we stopped and there were dead soldiers everywhere that I realized just how incredibly broken it had been. It's like we hit one bump wrong and KABLOOIE. The freakin' wheels were trying to bounce off the wagon. O.o
