I have SKSE64 installed through Vortex using the script extender installer plugin, I have it set as primary in the tools pane on my Vortex dashboard, and now whenever I try to run Skyrim SE through Vortex or skse64_loader.exe the game immediately crashes. I can open the game just fine through the regular Steam launcher but that results in SKSE not running properly. Can anyone offer advice? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I'm using Vortex 1.4.15 and SKSE 2.0.19. I've tried running SKSE as an administrator as the documentation suggests and this doesn't help.

If it's crashing immediately, you're either using the wrong skse, or you have a missing master

Is there anything showing in the notification bell?

No, I suspected I might have had a missing master but I would get a notification if that were the case, so that can't be it.

How can I tell if I have the wrong version installed?

Disable any SKSE plugins. Another reason for instant crashing is trying to use an LE mod that has a BSA that isn't compatible with SE

Thanks for your help thus far. I actually don't seem to see any plugins associated with SKSE in Vortex, and after checking I'm pretty certain I don't have any LE mods. However I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Is it still possible I have the wrong version of SKSE somehow?

SKSE64 is only for Skyrim Special Edition. Make sure you got it from https://skse.silverlock.org (2.0.19).

Disable every mod except SKSE64. Deploy.

Run your game. What happens?

Wow, thank you. I rooted out the conflicting mod by this method. I now can easily run SSE via SKSE through Vortex.

It was Enchanted Arsenal, the SSE version. But I think I still may have downloaded and installed an incompatible version somehow.

Thank you all once again.
