Stop Rearranging the Tools on the Dashboard

Since I can't drag and drop the tools on the dashboard into a logically consistent order I tried removing them all, then putting them back in the order I wanted them. That worked for all of about 5 minutes before Vortex rearranged them on it's own, using some unknown and highly illogical ordering scheme.

How do I turn off automatic reordering so that things are where I want them, not arranged haphazardly so I have to search for them every time I restart Vortex?

may be worth your time to send this as a feature request via the vortex feedback. give a reason, and some background - be polite and constructive - and you never know it may get actioned.

i've had several features either added, or improved by communicating with the devs in this manner. basically - it works.

As HadToRegister said, it's been requested, a LOT (I looked), and it's never been implemented. According to Github they haven't even assigned anyone to look into it.

I was hoping someone knew of a workaround or extension that would at least stop automatic reordering. It's very irritating when my buttons don't even consistently stay in the same place from one launch of the program to the next, or even spontaneously rearrange when I'm actually using the program (which I just watched happen, resulting in me launching the wrong tool).

well they're only a couple of guys and they're obviously working really hard at making this tool as good as it can be. its a priority system and the issue is going to be low priority, all things considered. i just think if it matters to you that much, some feedback would probably be appreciated. it would certainly get the message to the devs as they don't always pop up in here.

Doesn't seem to affect me, mainly because I either Leave Vortex open all the time.

Or when it shuts, I reopen it, and never resize it, and that's with 15 tools in the dashboard

I was cleaning up, removing things I don't need, and the grid got rearranged into something that made it harder for me to find tools because they weren't logically grouped. So I removed everything and added tools back in, which was going fine until Vortex decided to rearrange things on it's own.

Honestly? This should be considered a bug. Imagine if your email program decided on a whim to rearrange the buttons and you end up hitting "Reply to All" instead of "Reply"? Spontaneous changes in UI layout are not a feature, they are a problem.
