colourwheel
For some reason it would seem political allegiance "Trumps" (no pun intended) ideology when it comes to questioning eligibility for presidency. It's a known fact the "birther movement" is a part of the fringe of conservative ideology. There was a huge outrage when Obama was elected to his 1st term in office to discredit his legitimacy as president with the "birth" of the "birther movement" trying to claim Obama was not even a citizen of the United States. Birthers have been even to this day fixated on the idea Obama was born in Kenya when it has been beyond proven Obama was born in Hawaii, which Hawaii is a part of the United state. Also looking back at Obama's parrents Obama's father was born in Kenya while his mother was born in the United States. And his family history is irrelevant considering just being born in America already legally qualifies him to be eligible to run for president. Now when you look at someone like Ted Cruz who was born in Canada, Some reason the Birther movement doesn't seem to be all over his case in outrage.... Even when Jonathan Karl interviewed Donald Trump(a leading voice of the birther movement) on abc, Trump side-stepped questioning of Ted Cruz's eligibility to run for presidency even after being informed Cruz was born in Canada. When Trump was asked the question about it he responded "Well, if he was born in Canada, perhaps not, but I'm not sure where he was born," Jonathan Karl informed Trump that Cruz was definitely born in Canada, the billionaire replied: "Well, then you'll have to ask him that question, but perhaps not." Trump said he believes any controversy about Cruz will be "ironed out." Even though Cruz's mother was an American, making Ted Cruz an American citizen, it makes one question what the whole birther movement is "really" about since Obama's mother was an American too.... Trump has long been on the record blasting President Obama for failing to produce a birth certificate, claiming he may not have been born in Hawaii, as well as demanding unnecessary documentation, also even demanding his education records... So my questions are "where is the birther outrage on Ted Cruz running for president?" or does political allegiance really "Trump" ideology for birthers when it comes to eligibility for presidency? HeyYou
Ted Cruz is running? I do believe, the constitution REQUIRES a candidate to actually be born here in the states, not merely be a citizen. Otherwise, any naturalized citizen could run. Not sure how Ted plans to work around that one. I seem to recall that in his book, Obama stated he was born in Kenya. That said, didnt he actually PRODUCE his birth certificate? Thought I remember reading something about that?
Lisnpuppy
Yes, Obama was born in the US. If there has been any truth to him not being born where he said that this matter would have been handled more seriously. His place of birth would have been in doubt while he as in the Senate and there are enough people in the government that were against Obama that the truth would not have been able to remain hidden. The book saying it was a draft version and was incorrect. They corrected it for the final version. They put Obama's birth certificate up on a website (it was a copy) and when people didn't believe it then the State of Hawaii confirmed they had one but per the law they can't just release it to anyone who asks. I am not sure how Cruz plans to work around that one either. Yes you do have to be a citizen from birth of the United States. I don't think there is any outrage because no one takes anything Donald Trump supports seriously anyway. How can you with that hairpiece?
Vagrant0
If I had to guess, I would say that this whole thing is just about getting attention. If anyone comments on it, they will simply go back to the usual "Obama wasn't born in the USA, Herpa Derpa." as a way to justify the candidacy. Good luck trying to research info on fringe leftist trying to discredit Barack Obama's legitimacy as president because none exist. This movement is completely a right wing creation... Now if you want to know "my opinion" this whole "birther movement" is just a way for extreme right wing conservatives to direct hatred toward the president, people who suffer from complete denial that the country has elected the 1st Black president changing the political land scape of our country forever. Knowing that it is possible for a black man to be elected as President of the United states opens up a huge window of opertunity for people of other ethnic groups to be easily accepted as president. I can only hope to live to see the day a Female Asian American becomes president who could go down in history as one of the greatest American presidents to ever serve office. After all The United states was built and created by immigrants, it's only fitting the country should be in control at one point or another of people of diverse ethnicities as the country grows older. Actually the "birther" movement was started by disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters. Obama himself added fire to the flames by releasing a fraudulent first birth certificate that even a brain dead moron could tell was fake, then Obama's own family dump more gas on the fire by claiming Obama was born in Africa. There never would have been any "birthers" if hillary's people hadn't started that narrative, nor if Obama would not have presented fraudulent birth certificate (s) to the media, and Obama's own family assert he was actually born in africa. by the way none of these people are "right wing" as far as i can tell. JimboUK
Maybe this section needs to be renamed "The Soapbox", debates should be started with a neutral explanation and then the OPs opinion, they shouldn't be started with a partisan rant. This movement is completely a right wing creation... According to one of the links you gave there are some on the left who used this Birther idea to depose President Obama. http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/birther-movement OriginAccording to an article in Politico[2], in the spring of 2008 during the Democratic presidential primary, Hilary Clinton supports began circulating an anonymous email questioning Obama’s United States citizenship (shown below).“Barack Obama’s mother was living in Kenya with his Arab-African father late in her pregnancy. She was not allowed to travel by plane then, so Barack Obama was born there and his mother then took him to Hawaii to register his birth” As far as my opinion goes, the entire law that states that the president has to be born in this country is absurd. I know a lot of people that are born here that also hate the place. I also know several people who came here from places so vile and dangerous that America is, to this day a dream come true. I would rather have a foreigner that loves and respects this country as a leader than a thousand spoiled little brats in adults form who would do anything they could, upon gaining The Presidency, to destroy this country. A lot of Americans are so used to having the freedoms we have here that they take them for granted and concentrate on what they don't have. In that way they can remain a quote/unquote victim and they create a life they obviously never had by continually gripping. This goes for The Occupy Wallstreet crowd just as easily as it does The Westbourgh Baptist Church.

Because the information is inaccurate? Anyways the "birther movement" is a right wing creation, too many other resources suggest this. If I recall when originally reading the link it said at the top something like "The submission is currently being researched and evaluated" probably meaning it's not a completely reliable resource to begin with.
