Slaiv
Personally, I liked WIII's graphics. But that's not the point. Blizzard realises that graphics don't matter as much as gameplay, and are tailoring their games to that idea. WIII had great gameplay, great multiplayer [despite the fact that you can't choose which game to join], a great story, etc.... I also agree - take me back to the old days. By far, the SNES was the best console ever.
Crim, The Red Thunder
Which is exactly why developers won't do it. Well, this goes along with other stuff said earlier. It may be a problem when we come to it, But this is what will happen. Once graphics reach their limit, then what is left to improve is gameplay, plot, and storyline. (REPLAYABILITY!!!!!) Now eventually, we can improve and build a better console. (Xbox/Playstation 57 anyone?) At that point, we can then build better data storage so that we can rfit 100 PS2 games on a single 'media device' (dont know what it would be yet... anyone wanna name this? Would we still use cds/dvds? I also agree - take me back to the old days. By far, the SNES was the best console ever maybe not the best, but there were a lot of good games back then... maybe even more then their are today. (definitely NOT as many sports games, which is a good thing... i only ever liked 1 sports game, and that was cause of the special features added... and the franchise was REAL good to... (thank god for SNES9XW!!!!!!) That gane was megaman soccer. (No one better flame the name megaman... or worse yet, zero and Bass. 3 of the coolest characters EVER. Excepting my login name of course, but that's not really a video game... more of a tv show.) yes i know, im a sucker for spending the 5 minutes it took to get this game but still... But you also cant deny that some games (FF9!!!! Chrono Cross!!! Parasite Eve 2 (and 1)!!!!!!!! and many more!!!!!) are really good games, and graphics arent necessarily that bad, nor are they phenomonal... Just better then SNES. But the SNES also had some of the cooler games around. OT: Back in it's heyday, it was quite common for a main character in an RPG to be killed off... how many of these have their been since Aeris? Is their some law against it now? (being killed off after a lot of plot is built around them, that is... cant describe real well... any help?) Another example would be Tellah in FF4, and many other 'faked' deaths... where they are brought back later... BS in my opinion.)
postaldudeleo
A bit off topic but I see that peregrine edited my post............... I post up a lengthy post on battlezone 2 and how multiple storylines was used in good games so far and what i found today is "poo poo poo poo bullshit" quoted by peregrine. I must ask, what is going on?
Slaiv
Final Fantasy VI is definitely the best in the series. On SNES. Chrono Trigger - considered to be not only the best RPG of all time, but the best game of all time. On SNES. Tecmo Super Bowl - one of the best football games of all time - on SNES. Super Street Fighter II - best fighting game of all time - on SNES. It's just that back then, developers couldn't make incredible graphics, so they had to create believable characters and involving worlds/storylines to sell a game. Crim, The Red Thunder
Yes, Chrono trigger is cool, but I like chrono cross better... more characters + more spells = More fun = More Replay value. But i dont like the level system given in Chrono cross *sob* Where's the EXP?And there werent enough double/triple techs IMHO... oh well, The main characters sword more then made up for it. And if you look, both games have some real-life meaning. Looking at CT, it gives some guys view of what our world was headed towards (total destruction! WHOOOOOOO!) Chrono cross emphasizes the choices we all make. What a small difference can make in the long run. Not to mention the connections (they're not very obvious... look at Dario and Glenn and compare them to Cyrus and Frog. at this time, recall dialogue and plot about those characters, and think about the things that happened to Cyrus and Frog... interesting, yes?) between the two games. Both games also represent corruption in society. Look at the corruption in Zeal (CT), as well as the racism between demi-humans and the rest of the world in CC. ======= Im gonna say this JUST ONCE. PostaldudeLeo, SHUT UP!!!! Peregrine posted proof of what you said, and you have already pulled this ridiculous stunt the last time he tried to strike you. You cant fake the poster's name like that, right down to the time, and you cant tell me that peregrine would lie about this just to put you in trouble. Even HE isnt that evil. Not even Chronowarp on Boundkingdom was that cruel/rude.
Slaiv
Looking at CT, it gives some guys view of what our world was headed towards (total destruction! WHOOOOOOO!)I'm not so sure our world is going to be destroyed by a giant demon/monster-thing....
Crim, The Red Thunder
i wasnt saying a giant demon-monster thing was gonna kill us, i was saying that we are advancing some technology to the point of dooming the whole world. IIRC (and it has been a *L O O O O N G* time) They say that Magus (yeah right...) could've killed Lavos had he been prepared when the spell was finished. This is proven by the scene you see if you lose to him at his castle (the elusive ending #14)...Also true is the mammon machine disturbing Lavos and causing the destruction of Zeal. We destroyed our own world. And humans were doing research on Lavos when the year 1999 AD came. (This game was made in 91 or 93 (not sure now...)... what guy saw a prophetic vision of the world ending that soon?) when he came out. I was just saying that it sorta depicts the apocalypse. And i know *I* have thought of our world being destroyed by some giant alien fireball thing... (HEy, i was bored in math class okay?) And this is now officially getting OT. Slaiv (and anyone else) ill be happy to continue this line of discussion over CT and CC via PM.

I post up a lengthy post on battlezone 2 and how multiple storylines was used in good games so far and what i found today is "poo poo poo poo bullshit" quoted by peregrine. I must ask, what is going on? Are you honestly this stupid, or are you just trying (and failing) to hide your guilt? What I quoted was the offensive language you used in your post, despite multiple warnings to stop. I quoted it so everyone knows exactly why you are going to be banned, since last time you got a strike you edited the evidence out so you'd look innocent. As for deleting the post, you (and anything you have to say) are no longer welcome here.
Dinin
This has a small chance of happening, but perhaps some jerk got on postal's account and acted immature. If he made it so that he automatically signs in when going to the website, this is quite possible. Then again, its basically his responsibility who gets on his computer and his fault if someone gets on his account. Just wanted to point out that this has happened before to people. Perhaps you should look at postal's post history to see how he has acted in the past. Now on topic. (sort of) If games start focusing more on music, i think i'll always be a buyer. Chrono Cross had in my opinion one of the best musical score in the history of video games. The main reason was because they had an orchestra. Vagrant Story also had great music, even if it didn't have an orchestra. Vagrant Story had a "no bull-crap or any useless comedy" attitude, it had a very serious feel and atmosphere to it, and it seemed like the people who made it spent all the time they could on the game. In my opinion it deserves alot more credit, its a very underrated game. Basically, i think games should start focusing on some of the smaller things. Perhaps take away the whole deadline thing (i think Fable was rushed) and should make it more of an art. Of course we're gonna have to wait until games are a little more underground before this happened.
Peregrine
Perhaps you should look at postal's post history to see how he has acted in the past.*looks at history* He's acted exactly the same in the past. The problem is that he didn't change his posting habits.
