phforNZ
Doom was a great, fun game to play. Especially multiplayer. :P However, a better game at the time was Marathon. Think Doom, but better in most ways. Just a shame it was limited by being only on Mac.

xaechireon
I remember back in '95 My dad printed a cheat list for Doom, and it was like a household treasure (except to mom). Now I mostly run it on GZDoom or Eternity because I can't be arsed to fiddle with DOS compatibility or DOSBox.
jaosals42
The master level packs were a really interesting addition to the older Doom games, though I had wished the levels could be played in an order, rather than having the game transport you to the Doom 2 campaign (or something like that) when you completed a "Master Level". Essentially, the master levels were played individually, not as a campaign as, IMO, it would've been better as...
dragonpen61
Loved Doom and Doom 2. Found a randomising program that made all the monsters and items randomly placed through out the levels of Doom so that one could meet a big spider in the very first level or start a level with a dozen missile launchers waiting for one and so on. There were lots of great mods like one that turned a the demons into daleks, well I think it was the demons. Anyway you shot the daleks and they died, the top falling open with green goo dripping out. The horrible mod turned a devil into Barni the dinosaur and he would attack with his awful laugh. Endless Barnies would attack one and one would desperately kill them off. There was a way to turn Doom into the Simpsons, into an Alien scene (Aliens as in Riply) and even a cool Star Wars one that had a Death Star scene plus a few others. It was cool and though graphics were crude by today's standards, one could not climb up or down, it was a great introduction to modding.

You should see Wolf 3D's graphics. Doom looks positively new in comparison.

Deleted945028User
Doom is still a good game I got Doom2 for win95 some years ago I still play it from time to time. I just found out how to get to the secret levels without cheating a year or two ago lol. I remember I was on level 11 with a buddy one time he lured a Cyberdemon into a very small starting room witch wasn't a problem until I died and teleported back only time I saw four of my bodies hitting the floor at the same time lol. For me Doom 3 was a let down.Wolf 3d was a good game too.
