jdkzombie
Everything else has transferred peachy keen, but for whatever reason Vortex is having a stroke trying to do anything and nothing I have tried so far seems to do f*** all but make it worse. I've tried removing json, ive tried updating winrar, ive made sure 6 separate times that the staging folder is on my C:\ drive, I've literally copy pasted everything from the old drive to a back up drive, then to the new drive after the migration. Game starts fine, even from f4se, but it says no mods installed (like I deleted them all or whatnot) open up Vortex, check mod staging folder at C:\Users\ZombiE\AppData\RoamingVortex\Fallout4\Mods and they are all there sitting pretty. I can uninstall them using Vortex, Purge "seems" to work but then it doesn't. I even deleted the entire data folder from Fallout and reverified with Steam. I tried creating a brand new folder on C:\ called VorMods to stage from instead, no dice. I tried installing MO2 but that s#*! is complicated AF and even though I transferred all my mods from Vortex to it, and they are all downloaded and checked on both sides, they won't deploy and when starting up Fallout 4 and trying to load a save I get a huge popup box saying mods are missing. What the sam fresh f*** all am I doing wrong here? Do I need to delete Fallout 4 AGAIN and reinstall fresh? How the heck do I get Vortex to start fresh because removing all mods using CTRL+A and using the batch tool removed them, it says no mods installed but I know where to find some, trying to redownload a fresh mod right here from Nexus, and it just f***ing hangs up on preparing, I let it sit for 30 minutes this morning while I took my kid to school, came home, STILL preparing. Why is there no factory reset option for Vortex? I uninstall, reinstall, and it picks right up where I left off with everything where it was. So I'm throwing up the bat signal to anyone who can help me figure out wtf is going on. My new SSD works great to really speed the system up, if I had known this was gonna be a f***ing issue with my games being borked I'd have just stuck with my Raptor 10k HDD from WD. Tannin42
- "My new fridge was not getting cool enough so I used a sledgehammer to make a hole in the wall but then it was cold in the entire room so I made a fire out of my furniture but then everything was burning so I opened all faucets and let them overflow to drown the fire but now my feet are wet and the walls are grimy. This fridge sucks!"- "No, you see, there is a little dial in the fridge you could have turned to make it cooler..." You ask "What the sam fresh f*** all am I doing wrong here?"? Everything mate. Pretty much everything you did after migrating the files was a bad move."I've tried removing json" was your first step? Deleting files you obviously have no idea what their purpose is was the very first thing you tried? Vortex could have repaired things with these vortex.deployment files, recovering after an unexpected file move is literally what they're there for. At this point you are now at least 2 levels too deep to repair in a reasonable manner. The only advice I can give you is: Next time ask for help before setting everything on fire? You're probably best off deleting C:\Users\ZombiE\AppData\Roaming\Vortex to start from scratch but this would have been a single click, 10 seconds affair if you had looked for help... rmm200
Do what Tannin said to clean up Vortex, but you also need to clean your game directory.Just delete the Data directory, then have Steam validate the game files. That will replace anything you should not have deleted. It should never be necessary to reinstall the game.

Do a nice little search yourself for "vortex not deploying, or vortex hanging on preparing mods" and you'll see the search results for yourself. I came here after none of those options worked at all. jdkzombie
Like the very first result that popped up in my search was on github and was nothing but a ton of error messages someone posted and having my exact issues, then at the bottom the posted was closed with a "new version solves this" from coincidentally a TanninOne lol And you are Tannin42.
