You are somehow blocking Vortex from getting the game list from GitHub. Head to https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/categories/4/ to browse extensions manually

Wonder what that somehow might be. Running win11 and I don't have any extra firewalls etc. just what windows has. Tried downloading it manually. Vortex does download it but hitting install does absolutely nothing :(

Managed to circumvent this problem by installing an old version of vortex that did have Hogwarts Legacy, added that to my list and then the vortex autoupdated to the newest one. The available game list went back to way smaller one but at least I got to keep the already installed hogwarts.

I have the same problem as the original poster. Vortex is not scanning for new games, at least not Starfield. The rather inane suggestion to search for or just look at the list of games obviously doesn't work. They are not on the list.

Finally was able to install by going to the Nexusmods Starfield web page Starfield at Modding Tools - Nexus Mods and manually downloading and installing it. i.e.

Extract the 7z archive to %appdata%\Vortex\plugins\Starfield.

The Vortex install options, both within the Vortex app and from the website, do not work.

Was this version of Vortex even tested?

This is a problem that is very specific to a very small number of users. It's annoying but considering that the majority of users aren't having this problem it's not something you can really say we didn't test for. The extension list updates properly unless something in your setup prevents it from doing so.

Having to check my game lists in GoG, Steam and Epic to see what games I have installed ( I have quite alot) then manually search for the game in vortex to manually set it to manage is a big waste of time.

What was wrong with the scan option to detect and manage installed games with just a click of a single button.

It now takes longer to add a single game then it did to add them all automatically, very ineffective.

does sound like a waste of time, but you don't need to do that, and vortex isn't forcing you to do that either.

if you have a game installed, find the game tile in vortex and click it. job done.

But it's very time consuming and inefficient when you are trying to add multiple games. It takes about half a minute to look at my games, decide which to add, type in the name manually, then add it. 4 steps for "each" game.

Having hundreds of games, it becomes very time consuming and a waste of time when they had a perfectly fine scanning system. It's a step backwards

If the list of games only showed my games in the listed game tiles it would be easier to find my games, but wait that would mean you'd need to scan my games for the list, see how that works.
