Not using skyrim Mod Folder

I was trying to switch over from using vortex to mod Skyrim SE on PC GamePass to Steam. I got it to switch everything and it is working for the most part.

For some reason it keeps trying to put the mods in skyrims data folder and not the skyrim mods folder. When I click the the open mods folder button on Vortex it opens the data folder.

The mods wouldn't work when in the data folder but when I copy pasted them to the mods folder from the data folder they worked like a charm.

I can't seem to find a way to manually set the mods folder in vortex settings I can only find the button to manually set the game folder.

I don't know if this is caused by it having the anniversary edition dlc added or what.

I don't know what other information to provide but am happy to answer any questions.

You should not be futzing around with the files Vortex controls directly.

Mods are installed to the "staging folder" which can be opened under Open -> Open Mod Staging Folder

From there your need to use "Deploy Mods" (this usually happens by default) which will create a link between the file in the staging folder and your Game Mods folder (Skyrim\Data).

If the mods aren't appearing in the data folder after deploying, check the bell icon in Vortex. The most common reason for this not working is that your staging folder must be on the same HDD as the game.

The problem i was having was that they were appearing in the data folder where as skyrim has a seperate folder for mods to go into to. when i was messing with folder i simply copy pasted the linked files that vortex put into the data folder instead of the mods folder. i never touched the staging folder or any of vortex's folders.

So simply vortex is working its deploying everything its just deploying the links to the wrong folder in skyrim.

That is what i ned to fix.
