Soothsayerman
We had that down time the other day and today I got a failed to sync message message that I assume was from vortex's server. Then it asks me to change the install date of the files to fix this (and that there is no downside) which I do, then I get the message that files have been modified outside of Vortex (which is not true) and all of my mod links are broken. Vortex now wants me to re-install all of my mods and I am sure all of my save games are totally borked now. How did this happen? Is there a work around? Is this a good time to move to a different mod manager?
Pickysaurus
A server outage would not have any impact on the mods you have installed. If Vortex has somehow lost track of the files it's usually because you poked around in the folders Vortex controls (which is not a good idea). If you can provide the specific error I might be able to advise you further. It is sounding like you deleted the AppData folder for Vortex. The thing about re-dating the archives was triggered after Skyrim updated and is unrelated.

The thing about re-dating the archives was triggered after Skyrim updated and is unrelated. Vortex messed with the app data folder when i was trying to update it. I wonder if the update file got corrupted somehow? I'm not sure how I would do this even if I tried. Something isn't right though and if everything was okay, I can't see how Vortex would even do any of this. It would be a glaring error and I don't think that is likely so I agree with you. Now Vortex thinks my SKSE64 file is out of date or not the correct version but it is the correct file. LOOT recognizes it as being correct for SkyrimAE, but Vortex will not load it. I have not messed with any of this is the thing. God knows what it is. It's gotta be the date change. Vortex does not know what version or changes have been made is the only thing I can think of. Blech. Ever onward. Not sure how to fix this...
rmm200
What change were you trying to make to the appdata folder? Under normal circumstances, that folder belongs to Vortex and should not be modified.Specifically, don't have Downloads or the Mod Staging folder there. Most normal thing that breaks mod links is moving the game directory without Purging first. Don't do that.Nothing you said would indicate any problem with your save games. Don't give up on them. 1) Verify locations of Downloads and Mod Staging Directory. Neither one under Program Files, AppData, or Vortex install directory.2) Purge all mods in Vortex3) Clean your game directory. Delete anything not installed by Bethesda.4) Verify your game through Steam. Start it from Steam and make sure it runs.5) For each enabled mod, click the dropdown "Reinstall". Enable them.6) Click Deploy. This is a conservative procedure to get you running. Chance of failure is low.No idea what your original problem was - but this should fix it. For the first, Skyrim SE updated today so your SKSE probably is out of date now. That may also be the cause of the "changed outside of Vortex", but usually Vortex doesn't try to manage the original game files. As for the date change, that's how Vortex does Archive Invalidation. It should not have affected anything other than making your loose files load.
rmm200
New version of Skyrim is part of it. What concerned me most was "all of my mod links are broken".New version of Skyrim would not cause that. The update was a shock to me. I fixed that by rolling back the executable to the 22 Jan version.Expect two-three weeks before all affected mods are updated. Address Library and SKSE are two of the main ones affected.
