ja1som Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Hi, is there a way to install only a part of the mod (zip file)? Specifically Glowing Items for Fallout 76https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/102It has a lot options for items and colors, can I only choose some of them in Vortex?
showler Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 It's a manual install with instructions at the bottom of the mod description.
Guest deleted34304850 Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 i suppose you could create a 7zip folder that contains just what you want to install and install that using vortex but that seems to be a lot of work when its easier to just do it manually.but its your game, you do you. that's how i'd do it if i wanted to use vortex.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted November 8, 2022 Community Manager Posted November 8, 2022 You can also install it to Vortex, right-click and open in file manage then delete the files you don't want.
ja1som Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 Thanks, I thought I download the zip remove what I don't want, or create new zip with what I want and drop it to Vortex, as you said. But I didn't use Vortex for longer time, so I was curious if I'm missing something. So the short answer to my question is NO. I'll try to make a feature request on github.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted November 8, 2022 Community Manager Posted November 8, 2022 What is the use case for only wanting part of a mod? The mod you linked is just really badly packaged and not suitable for mod manager install, it'd be better if the mod author added a FOMOD installer.
ja1som Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 For Fallout 76 there are more mods packed like that, for glowing with different colors, etc. Yes, it will be nice if the mod will be packed better way, but.So I thought Vortex can have an option where you mark only files you want to use and it will deploy it without folders, or with them if you mark them. But I'm not sure if it's possible. I didn't mean necessarily part of the mod, but if the zip file contains more mods, or one mod with additional files/add-ons.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted November 8, 2022 Community Manager Posted November 8, 2022 You can give feedback on the FO76 extension here: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/110 As before, the best solution is for mod authors to package their mod consistently.
