84Cronos
I plan on using the Fallout 1 & 2 music for my upcoming quest mod. I've found the music here https://archive.org/details/fallout_2_soundtrack where it was uploaded under a "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International" license. So my questions is: am I allowed to earn donations points while using this music? It technically belongs to Bethesda now afaik, since they purchased the Fallout franchise, so I'm kind of confused as to what I'm allowed to do. showler
My first question would be: How do you know that the license archive.org claims for the music is legitimate? If Bethesda owns the tracks and restricts their use in other games, why would archive.org have the right to distribute them for others to use? HeyYou
As they also have the Fallout 3 soundtrack on there, I highly doubt any of that is legit. Edit: And the Fallout 4 soundtrack, so, no. NOT legit. I would not trust anything at all from that site. 84Cronos
Thank you for replies. I thought it could be legit because it's being hosted on the Internet Archive. While I don't know what kind of system they use to check for any unauthorized or illegal uploads of material to their archives, I always assumed that they're legit since it's a "digital library" or rather the biggest one on the internet afaik. What further makes me curious is that the F1/2 music has been uploaded to the nexus a long time ago and it seems that the uploader never ran into any problems:https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2990 Edit: I found a comment by the uploader on nexus. He said that the nexus prohbits uploads of music which is not covered by public domain status(e.g. the F3 soundtrack), which in turn must mean that the F1/2 soundtracks are covered.
