showler
The determining factor for me is my belief that the Institute was using Nick as an early test for transferring memories into a synth body. If doing so locked you in to whatever you were at that particular moment, with no further room for growth or change, I doubt they'd be wanting to do it. gallant1357
Dislike the most : Railroad reason : pretty useless without the institute, with institute destroyed, save what synth? Second Dislike : BOS Reason : power fantasy, peacekeeper wanna be but the opposite. Neutral opinion : Minutemen Reason : Doing what they can to survive Like(Logically) : The Institute reason : World gone to s#*!, only them actively trying to restore, even with questionable method, but in an apocalyptic world, there is no such thing as questionable method. showler
Mass murder is always a questionable method. And by "questionable" I mean "wrong".
fraquar
Dislike? To me in Fallout 4 that harsh term belongs to the organizations that have been an impediment to society rebuilding. Institute and BoS. Both are hoarders of tech and don't use what they have hoarded to make society better. They will always be at the top of the list. ----- I don't look at it from the perspective of "where would the Lone Wanderer take those organizations", I look at it from the perspective of what they've been doing the whole time I've been on ice....
RoNin1971
Institute trumps BoS. BoS don't really care. The Institute however is replacing humans. Like a bunch of bodysnatchers. They are replacing (not restoring) society. Committing genocide. A threat to the survival of the human species and they treat their own as slaves/property. Nobody in the game beats that. Just like no single person can make the entire BoS turn helpfull (trying will get you outcast), you can't just change the entire institute to be benevolent. (and not get killed)

fraquar
It would be much easier changing the Institute than the BoS. The only sentient beings in the Institute are the leader and the eggheads. Sitting in on their meeting there aren't very many of them (heads of departments) you'd need to bring to your side of thinking. In fact, many of them just want to be eggheads - they don't want to lead.
showler
Disagree. Being content to be "eggheads" when the leadership is already going your way is different from being content when the leadership tries to change to a plan you don't agree with. There is a mod where you can plausibly change the Institute (get some key coursers on your side, put guns to the head of he directors etc) Addtionally I feel, if you become Institute head most coursers will admire you because you "came from the ranks" of doers on the surface, so to speak. and your combat abilities are known far and wide. Being related to former leadership cements legitimacy even more, as does your genetic relation to the synths and if you play your cards right,(like training them personally, getting them better weapons, etc) very quickly the Coursers will be so loyal to you personally, they will do whatever you order. Even if it mans converting them into a military force, rather than slave chasers and dismantling the existing power structure.
sorryimback
Nah man the coursers aren't gonna like me, I would order them to farm and bake bread for wastelanders for the rest of their lives and think about their actions
