HadToRegister Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Tried managing mods for Middle Earth: Shadow of War, but unfortunately, Vortex refuses to manage the game because it says it can't find Steam\steamapps\common\ShadowOfWar\x64\bink2w64_.dllThe problem is, is the file is actually named bink2w64.dll with no underscore. (Copied the bink2w64.dll file and renamed it to bink2w64_.dll and now Vortex recognizes the game) However, this isn't a good solution, as the incorrectly named file could potentially cause problemsOK, I see that in order to use Mods, you need to install the DLL Loader from the mod page, and rename bink2w64.dll to bink2w64_.dll, however, for initial vortex setup, I think that Vortex should look for BOTH bink2w64.dll and bink2w64_.dll, just to get the game path and mod and staging folders set u, in order to avoid what I just did, of not being able to set up Vortex BEFORE modding the game. This extension REQUIRES that the bink2w64.dll file has already been renamed to bink2w64_.dll, and it really shouldn't, or at least, it should look for both, for setup purposes.People like myself, like to have Vortex all setup and ready to go, with respective DOWNLOAD and MOD STAGING FOLDER in place BEFORE adding mods, which was what I was trying to do, however, because the extension only looks for the EDITED Bink file, it makes it impossible to do so, and will only set up AFTER you have downloaded the DLL loader and renamed the file (Which also means there is no DOWNLOAD and MOD STAGING folder set up yet., So the DLL Loader download is downloaded manually to a generic folder (I always create a WORK folder inside the Vortex Download\Game\ folder for manually installed mods, and mods that need to be unzipped and repackaged.) UNTIL you rename the file and can have Vortex set those folders up.
