Make the splash come up immediately

I don't have the most gaming-oriented PC. I7-2600, SSD, GTX-750Ti. It takes about 15 seconds for the splash screen to show up when I double-click Vortex. Long enough I think about doing it again.

Dudes.

Let me know IMMEDIATELY that you are aware I want you.

It's all a game of perception. Take as long as you want to actually load, but let me know right the f* now that you are aware I'm here.

Well, this is not an instant messaging service. Posts like yours first appear in my email in box. So that means I have to check my email to see any posts. Since I am retired, I don't check my email every day. Right now, I am the only person responding to your post.

1. Regarding your PC, an Intel I7 processor (CPU) should be beefy enough to launch Vortex promptly if not immediately IMO.

What I7 model do you have? Even the low end of their range (2.6 GHz clock speed) should be fast enough.

How many CPU cores does your laptop have? Cores = better performance.

My desktop has an AMD Ryzen 3 processor, which runs at 3.5 GHz. It has 4 cores.

2. How much RAM do you have for your CPU to use? This could be a problem even if your processor is fast enough.

My desktop has 16 GB of RAM. I am used to running slower hardware, but having plenty of RAM helps overall performance.

3. Having an SSD should be helpful. Generally, SSDs are faster than conventional hard drives.

What brand, model, size (capacity), do you have? How much free space is available?

My desktop's main SSD has 2 Terabytes (2,000 Gigabytes) capacity. Right now, it's 90+ percent full,

but I am not having the performance problems you are.

I can free up space by uninstalling games in my library that I don't play very often.

4. Based on the info you provided about your graphics card (GPU); it looks like it has 2 GB of VRAM onboard. That could be an issue.

The Nvidia card in my desktop has 3 GB of VRAM and I have been happy with its performance so far.

Upgrading is not hard for me if I want to pay the price for more speed and VRAM. But I am on a budget.

It may not be possible for you to upgrade your GPU in your laptop. In the old days it was impossible.

5. What system maintenance software do you use? Over time a lot of virtual junk can built up in PCs that hurt performance.

I use Avast Cleanup and Driver Update. It pings me whenever it's time for maintenance. That helps me keep my PC running right.

Avast software is sold on a subscription basis, and I have found it to be worth the price.

6. What graphics settings are you using? Turning the settings down might help you as well.

7. What version of Vortex are you using? Stay with the stable release versions, not the beta versions.

The betas are for testing. That means some features do not work properly.

I switched back to stable because the beta crashed too much to be reliable for day-to-day game play in my opinion.

8. Did you check the Vortex Knowledgebase for performance advice? It is one of the things it was created for.

Finally, one more piece of unsolicited advice for you:

Remember that modding is a hobby for the overwhelming most people using these forums. No one is getting paid to put up with grief from anyone who stops by here to post. If you tick off the best people here, they will just ignore you when you have a problem. The worst people might just give you back the same kind of noise you were just making.

I hope you succeed in getting Vortex launching faster.

when you double click an icon - that starts a chain of events to load up the program you want to run.

the splash screen popup comes up, when its time for the splash screen popup to appear - which is presumably after a whole load of stuff behind the scenes has gone on, including fetching stuff from disk, which is the largest bottleneck there is.

A question for you - while you listed your PC specs, can you say if you have Vortex installed on a HDD? If so, it might be that the HDD is somewhat fragmented, which can have a detrimental effect on performance which can be "seen" when you don't see the vortex logo for quite some seconds after you've double-clicked the icon.

as has been mentioned, the cpu you've got is fine - no issue there - which leads me to ask about the disk(s) on your system.

The splash screen for Vortex on a normal setup will appear within a second or two.

If that's not happening something on your PC is delaying the startup processes that precede the screen appearing.

I believe Vortex does a few "sanity checks" to ensure to installation and saved state aren't corrupted before booting.

You might want to look at any security apps as they are often the cause of this kind of thing.
