Vortex Error 403 Forbidden

Hello

I started to recieve a Error 403 Forbidden when attempting to download mods from Nexus with the Vortex download button.
Couldn't figure the cause so I attempted a relogin, which now has me stuck unable to connect Vortex with my account at all.

Trying to login now tells me the login service is unavailable and gives me option to use API to connect instead, but it won't accept the API generated from the given link either.
I have attempted to reinstall but nothing changes.

I have also tried to use Mod Organiser 2 but that one faces similar issues, can't connect account directly and while I can seemingly enter API succesfully it also gives a forbidden error when attempting download.

Any suggestions for a fix are welcome.

You need to tell your antivirus to allow connection to Nexus Mods. I don't know how to do that exactly because I do not have this problem. Check for antivirus and firewall instructions regarding how to add exceptions to blocked sites. It is called "whitelisting."

Like I mentioned I have had Windows Security and Windows Firewall disabled completely so I am pretty confident they are not to blame. It is only the specific connection between the applications and Nexus that are affected, the main site functions normally. Vortex doesn't display which URL or IP it connects to for login so I have nothing to whitelist, at most I have the URL given by MO2 but I haven't been able to use that in any meaningful way either. https://cf-files.nexusmods.com/ for exampe can't even be pinged.

I any case, I have found a workaround. Using a VPN makes everything work again, but it's not a solution I'd like to rely on so further suggestions for throubleshooting steps are appreciated :)

what browser are you using and do you have any tinfoil hat addons that are supposedly protecting you?
