How often is it that mod requests actually get made?

I just witnessed something I never thought possible: A MOD REQUEST ACTUALLY GOT MADE:

Now I want to know: is this the first time this has ever actually happened? I've never before seen a requested mod get made. What madness is this???

Well, for example all my (three) mods are in fact made on request, so yes it's quite maddening  . On other hand I can see why there's practicaly zero chance to be request done by established modder:

1. Request became too complicated - requests which involves making completely new models/textures/lands etc. are taking long time to be made, so for one person only it's mostly not worth to spend such long time making it.

2. Mods made for request aren't much popular - most propably only person who requested this mod will like it too, and even this isn't some rule.

3. Some already made mod for it or request is simply not interesting or original.

Skyrim modders are often the ones who already have vast experience with modding from older games, like Oblivion. And Skyrim dictates to be practicaly at pro level, both for graphics and sripting/coding too. To bring their attention you must simply offer something extra.

Two of my mods were made in response to requests. I also partially made a third in response to a request but it was delayed due to illness and the requester decided to make it themselves.

I made a few mods for LE that were requested. I did it because it was either an interesting idea, because it was fairly simple or because I wanted the same thing or already had something that could easily be adapted to fit the request. Since then, I do not have as much free time. While I won't flat out do a request any longer, I have shared insights into how something could be done should someone want to take it up.

To answer your question, it does happen from time to time. Probably not as often as those requesting would like. Often times the 'request' is a grand idea for a big project and all they want to offer are the ideas. Those 'requests' usually will not see the light of day.

yeah, the one linked got made because it was both easy to do and something that I would use myself.

fwiw, this was similiar

I slapped that into my personal mods, but didn't publish it since it feels like a half measure, and there was no further discussion on it

I completed two mods for players and I'm working on a third.

Whether I publish them or not is yet to be seen. Probably, eventually.
