Devs say Baldurs Gate 3 shouldn't be a "baseline" for rpgs from other devs- I disagree and here's why

Other devs groaned when they saw BG3 released because they knew they would have to step up their game (i.e. not just milk some tired existing franchise for all it was worth). BG3 is by no means perfect or worth all the hype it has received. But it was ambitious.

 

The gold standard (as far as I'm concerned) is still TW3. The game is an almost flawless rollercoaster story ride with a wide, interesting world to explore with so many things to see and do. I usually play it again every 12-18 months or so and am still blown away at the careful craftsmanship, care to detail, and just plain love that went into it.
