CrazyGilbert
well, i was wondering about which game is acually better....or why there seems to be some much competition between the two. i loike both of them, I play halo2 more than i do doom3 and im better at Halo than i am at doom but that really doesnt matter, i still like both of them. so, what do you guys think about this? -CG
Stanhead
I shall simplify my answer with an inequality: Halo > Doom III > Halo 2 Halo was a good game, Doom III was a bit of a let down, and Halo 2 was terrible. I hope I've cleared things up for you. Half-Life 2 > All other games, however.

Abramul
Doom 3, simply because it's for PC, and therefore, moddable.

Switch
Calm down you two. ;) I can't really give an honest opinion as I haven't played Doom III. I thought it looked a bit overdone, not to mention running down dark corridors and getting scared cr@pless by huge bump-mapped alien things isn't my idea of fun. :P Halo was a good game... I would say it was the best FPS I've played, but now Half-Life 2 has taken that position... and no I don't care what certain people think about the game. ;) Halo 2 wasn't bad, it had a few nice improvements on the gameplay of the first but it was so short, and had so few new things so far as landscape pieces, vehicles etc were concerned that I don't think they really had the right to release it as a full price standalone title. An expansion maybe. Also that ridiculous abrupt excuse-for-a-third-title-so-we-can-make-more-money ending was very disappointing and lame IMO. :P
CrazyGilbert
well, yes the ending was very, very lame but the gameplay was very good and so was the whole story line but I dint like how it was so shortlived.
Slaiv
Half-Life 2 is one of the greatest FPS games ever made... Don't be hatin'. Halo was overrated and Halo 2 even more so. They're not that great - limited weapon selection , poor and/or short plotlines, and overrated graphics. Don't get me wrong - they're fun, but not great. Doom 3 is a great game. Multiplayer may suck, it may be nothing but texture-mapping, but it still provides the deepest and most believable atmosphere of any game I've ever played. At 3 in the morning with 5.1 Headphones on and all the lights off, you will leap at fright at the slightest movement.
CrazyGilbert
yeah, I have done that once and will never do that again. The worst is when you are playing on your own like that. -CG

Halo 1 was fun...Doom 3 was just...well John Carmack should be shot for that, and Halo 2 was just more of the same...only less lighting
