A question about moving game and mod folders

So, I've been thinking about moving my Skyrim installation from my HDD to an SSD, desirably alongside with the mod folder. What needs to be done so that this process could take place without much blood or even completely smooth and seamless? It's obvious that the game itself won't lose links to the documents folder that holds all the important settings, inis, prefs and saves but I'm concerned that vortex will not correctly recognise new installation and will attempt to reinstall all modifications or something like this.

In short what do I need to know to safely and painlessly move the game and mod folders from one disk to another?

Use the "purge mods" option in Vortex.

 

Shut down Vortex.

 

Have the storefront (Steam, GoG, Game Pass) do the moving of the game.,

 

Restart Vortex, go to the games tab, choose the edit option on Skyrim, update the path information. Restart Vortex to be safe.

 

Go into settings and change your deployment folder to the new drive. Vortex will move the files.

 

Deploy mods again.

 

Vortex may automatically suggest some of the steps.

I'll try this and while at it keep the original copy on the hdd in case of something going wrong so I can always revert everything back.

You should probably make backups then.

 

Both Steam and Vortex will delete the original after making the copy (hence "move" rather than "copy").

Would it be possible to add this to the tutorial page on VORTEX?
