ghostmaker00
This has continued to cause issues which I have to continually reorder after every restart of Vortex. If we do not have actual record/edit based sorting then could we also have an option to turn off alphabetical sorting? Hell could there be an option to save load orders; which would make troubleshooting less of a chore?
AugustaCalidia
To avoid reordering, turn on plugin management, order your mods, and then turn off plugin management in the Vortex settings for Starfield. When next you load your game, the mods retain the preferred load order. You can verify that by clicking on "View Plugins File." The reordering issue is probably a bug, as showler notes in the following post. My solution is a workaround that I am using until the problem is properly rectified in Vortex. showler
I think they said this was a bug in Vortex itself and would have to be sorted in an update of the main program.
Nagev
Hi there! The load order definitely should NOT reset on every Vortex restart! it's saved persistently in Vortex's state and should remain exactly as you left it. Unless ofc you purge and re-deploy in succession which will indeed reset the LO (this is indeed a bug which we aim to resolve soon) @ghostmaker00 did you perhaps purge and re-deploy your mods or clicked the reset plugins button? ghostmaker00
I did not purge or reset. Sometimes it will just reorder on its own. there are times I will start a game (without checking Vortex), I get either a crash and/or infinite save loading and then I will see that my load order has gone into alphabetical order with no input from me. I am assuming that sometimes the load order on startup will be reordered. A notification of this event somewhere in the interface would at least help with troubleshooting issues. (after which, it reverts to alphabetical order and you loose any saved load order previously set) This is still happening (just did to me) on v1.11.3 released today
VanguardVoyager
This has just started happening to me after the newest update. Not 100% resort alpha, but random items are being grabbed and tossed to the end, those are resorted by alpha order. And it's not the same # or even the same entries each time. . The workaround mentioned above is something i will try as the re-sort is happening just by launching Vortex, not making any changes or touching anything. ghostmaker00
As the OP, this behavior stopped for awhile and now after the most recent update is reordering again. It is not consistent behavior but it is happennign enough again. Again I never touched purge or reset at any time. I am again asking for a way to save load orders or back them up and restore them so when these kind of issues arise; it can quickly be rectified instead of painstakingly having to resurrect a previous order mod by mod. Nagev
Hi guys, Please do report these type of issues on our bug tracker "https://github.com/nexus-mods/vortex/issues" so we can look into them. It's hard to keep track of 5 different platforms for bug reports and some may slip through the net like this one almost did! A beta version of Vortex has been generated which is solely meant to fix this issue. https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex-Staging/releases/download/v1.13.4-beta.1/vortex-setup-1.13.4-beta.1.exe This version is not distributed through regular channels as we did not want to affect any working environments during the holidays, but if you find yourself in a situation where Vortex reset your LO; use this beta version to fix it. There are just some (random?) mods that are moved to the end of the LO, then sorted alphabetically. The rest of my mods are the way I left them. It doesn't happen every time I open Vortex but does happen sometimes. Kind of a problem as I have them manually in a very specific order due to conflict resolutions. Also why I do not use LOOT as there is no way to make bashed patches (AFAIK).
