StarField lost its luster

Opinions on the excitement or anticipation for a game like Starfield can vary widely among different individuals and gaming communities. While some may have initially been highly enthusiastic about the game's announcement, others may have had different reactions over time due to factors such as delays, lack of new information, or changes in personal interests.

It does feel that way. I had hoped the creation kit would be out by now, unfortunately that still seems a long way away. It feels like bethesda isn't pacing themselves well these days, firstly taking too long to release games, then taking too long to release new content.

I feel the same! Plus, I'd be forever comparing it to No Man's Sky which I play a LOT and is an excellent game!

Last week I tried to give it another chance. I re-installed it, put some mods in to mitigate some things that annoy me and made a new character. I especially looked forward to try out the new land vehicle.
But after this loooong intro quest when you are sent to mars and are stuck with Sarah I just logged out because I felt so bored. Its a shame really. I tried so hard to like this game and it does have things going for it: the gunplay is wayyy better than it ever was in a bethesda title, the shipbuilding - i love it. But overall ... its just kinda empty.

After about twenty five hours I put godmode on just to get through it quicker, for me the game felt soulless and empty and oddly dated. It didn't help that it came out after BG3, it underlined just how far behind Bethesda are when it comes to storytelling, writing and just about everything else.

Beth has never been really good at story telling..... That isn't why most folks play beth games though. 🙂 The 'forced' quest with Sarah is fairly short, you get some ship to ship combat..... and get to exercise some of the more interesting game mechanics. After you finish her quest, you can drop her off, and do whatever you want... I generally go exploring. Survey planets, investigate various POI's I encounter, make some money, collect some good equipment, maybe do some quests here and there, and there ARE some really fun ones that have nothing to do with the main story line. 😄 Freestar Rangers, UC Vangaurd, The Mantis, etc.... build my ship I will use thru the rest of the game..... Yep. LOTS of hours invested in the game. I most certainly go my moneys worth. 😄
