showler
You're making the erroneous assumption that people drawn in by the TV series will have any knowledge of, or concern for, F4SE mods. The mods on consoles and available through the game itself will be unaffected by this update, while the promise of a free upgrade to the game will be very enticing. It's like Todd understands the business of gaming very well indeed. Well enough to gear decisions toward the majority, not the minority, of players
fraquar
No, what I'm saying is one of the Executive Producers of the show is the guy running the shots at Bethesda. He more than anyone should know what happens when an update like this drops. It's more than just F4SE. Your window of opportunity is slim for a new audience as it is. You have to be able to hit the ground running with them - and throwing a monkey wrench mere weeks from TV series launch is a HORRIBLE idea from someone who is on the inside with the TV series. showler
It's only a "monkey wrench" to a very small number of people, almost none of them would be new players. Especially since this upgrade is so console focused. Whereas timing the update so you can announce it the same week the show debuts and have a couple of weeks of press regarding the free upgrade is good.
fraquar
A new player knows little. All he does know is that the 20-30 hours of Fallout TV inspired game play that is no longer viable because of an update. A grizzled veteran of the Bethesda update saga will identify with patience. A new player the TV show brought into the fold will be like a fish out of water. lordmogul
What I would to do stay on the safe side is: Make a backup of the current installation. (To roll back if anything breaks) Following the guide to prevent updating for a while to give to give mod authors time to update their mods if necessary, and play with the old version for a bit (Never change a running system. And I generally tend to wait a bit for responses and reviews before doing any big updates, not just with the game, but other stuff as well. If all is fine and there aren't any reports of issues, then I update.) Update the mods that got updates. Update the game and see if anything breaks. At that point I have a backup of known good configuration that I can copy over if mods break. And if I don't see any issues with the update, I can delete the backup. showler
I can't even begin to comprehend what you're talking about. If someone buys the game now, based on the show, then they'll know an upgrade is due next week. And when the upgrade comes it won't affect their game in any way unless they happen to buy it on PC and happen to find and install one of the small number of F4SE based mods during the next week. That's going to be a very small number of people.

showler
I mean "Fallout 4 Sales Receive Massive 7500% Spike In Europe Thanks To Fallout TV Show" is not exactly an indication that Todd has made a huge mistake. https://www.psu.com/news/fallout-4-sales-receive-massive-7500-spike-in-europe-thanks-to-fallout-tv-show/
CowboyBlues
I did a clean install waiting for Fallout London to be released then this announcement 5 days ago oh well maybe the delay won't ruin the work that the team has done already, really looking forward to this insanely Hugh project. showler
Sounds like there's some F4SE DLL injectors that they are dependent on and will need to wait for updates on.
