Jam0culuss
I followed all the steps, copied over the correct ID's, file is set as read only. When I launch Steam I still get the update button. I was getting annoyed so I tried to see if it would still play if i clicked update but when I do that its just giving me a Disk Write Error

However I did an entire Backup of the unupdated game files just in case. One more question if you allow me. If for any reason I need to open the launcher to change something in the options am I in risk of updating unintentionally? That I couldn't tell you, and I am not currently willing to test it out, lol. My newest modded game started over the weekend but I have 30 hours in it already that I'd rather not lose if it does update. I'm not sure why you'd need to open the FO4 launcher via steam unless it were to change some options, but all the options (and even more) can be changed just by manually editing the INI files. There are plenty of guides online for the various settings if you arent sure what you need to change, fortunately. 1

If you are playing a modded version, you should be launching the game through your modding program of choice (Mod Options 2, Vortex, etc etc). Doing the latter bypasses the steam launcher altogether and so won't be a problem

As an aside, if im launching from a launcher other than steam will I still get achievements on steam? I assume no, and honestly not a big deal. Using Mod Organizer then launching with F4SE is how I'm able to play but same as you, Fallout 4 (in my library on Steam) says Update Required but I didn't risk testing to see what happens if I click update! Not a big deal for me. Just hide the game and launch through MO/F4SE from now on and all your mods will be working - everything fine and dandy.

Oh, I´ll keep that in mind if for any reason I need to change something I´ll check that instead of the Launcher. theArcangel
Just wanted to chime in to say that I followed the instructions, changed the manfest IDs (?unsure if correct name) of the existing InstalledDepots as pointed out and it worked for me, Steam is no longer asking to update any more. What I did specifically: - yesterday, I set Steam to only update on launch and set the appmanifest_377160.acf file to read only. - just now, Steam asked me to update. - I closed Steam - I unset read only for the appmanifest_377160.acf file - I overwrote all manifest IDs with the ones provided here: https://steamdb.info/app/377160/depots/?branch=public (only the first 7 actually changed) - save, set read only again, start Steam -> Steam no longer asks to update. For reference, this is my Installed Depots section. Please note that from the file descriptions, this will ONLY be valid for and english Fallout 4 with Automatron DLC (no other DLC files had their manifests changed) Spoiler "InstalledDepots" { "377161" { "manifest" "7332110922360867314" "size" "6092666130" } "377162" { "manifest" "3747866029627240371" "size" "65503104" } "377163" { "manifest" "3876298980394425306" "size" "19539383766" } "377164" { "manifest" "8492427313392140315" "size" "3815537394" } "435870" { "manifest" "1213339795579796878" "size" "615585599" "dlcappid" "435870" } "435871" { "manifest" "7785009542965564688" "size" "130989066" "dlcappid" "435870" } "435880" { "manifest" "366079256218893805" "size" "79345533" "dlcappid" "435880" } "435881" { "manifest" "1207717296920736193" "size" "2890058024" "dlcappid" "435881" } "435882" { "manifest" "8482181819175811242" "size" "599590846" "dlcappid" "435881" } "480630" { "manifest" "5527412439359349504" "size" "265010956" "dlcappid" "480630" } "480631" { "manifest" "6588493486198824788" "size" "432439632" "dlcappid" "480631" } "393885" { "manifest" "5000262035721758737" "size" "54722008" "dlcappid" "480631" } "490650" { "manifest" "4873048792354485093" "size" "3946502119" "dlcappid" "490650" } "393895" { "manifest" "7677765994120765493" "size" "374503550" "dlcappid" "490650" } } 1
BlueishCupcake
If you changed your depots and steam stopped asking to update, can you share it? I have all the DLC's in english but it seens to still be asking to update. I tried setting read only on and off and closing and opening steam but it's still asking to update In another note, setting the manifest file to read only and lauching the game via vortex dosent trigger and update then?
