jjb54
Okay, so after Beth screwed up my game last year .. I took some serious time off, and then Beth messed up my FO 4 game! But, okay ... I see there is AE that is $20.00 and the reviews are seriously mixed and I'm wondering if it's worth it? I'm leaning towards NO. Even just getting SE to work .. I've had to un-install and re-install twice. Grrr ...... Anyways - AE worth it or not and please be specific as to why or why not.
scorrp10
Here is the list of all CC mods included in the AE update pack: https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/skyrim-anniversary-edition-all-new-content-all-creation-club-dlc-listed Note that Curios, Saints and Seducers, Survival Mode and Fishing, you get for free with SSE anyway. The rest is just a bunch of alternate armors, pets, weapons and player homes mods. I personally found nothing that would be worth $20 to me, especially considering all the stuff one can get on Nexus and elsewhere.
jjb54
Thanks - as that is pretty much what I was reading ... even those who apparently liked it, their reviews were less then convincing.
greyday01
No. Too many extra, unwanted quests that you would never choose to freely download. And too many patches needed to make them work with your mod list.
anjenthedog
$20? Lol. Presuming you enjoy this kind of game, yes without a doubt. Pretty much any game is worth ten or twelve avocados (y'all kids luvs those thangs, amirite?), ~two medium grade frozen pizzas, a couple of (uncooked) steaks from the grocery store, one monthly dose of flea med for your cat, a six pack of imported beer, part of the cost of a ticket to a "big name" music concert, a couple of seats at the movie theater, a handful of organic anything, or... in today's economy, maybe half a tank of gas, if you're lucky If you're considering a game like Skyrim, (*ie one that basically requires a pretty decent computer and a nice graphics screen) you're probably already playing on a thousand dollars or more of computer junk. what's another $20? What you make of it is up to you. But even plain jane vanilla Skyrim is worth 20 dollars of entertainment, even if you only do the main questlines once and ditch it afterwards. He is asking about the $20 AE add-on pack.
ModEnjoyer52
The CC is badly integrated, for example crossbows. I use CC Crossbows and Bolts - Tweaks and Enhancements Be ready to fine tune the other CC too. I liked The Cause and there is a big mod that connects it to Beyond Skyrim Bruma. I also like the simple camping CC and Civil War Champions, the Saturalia Holiday one and Tundra Homestead (with Nordic instead of dark elf lanterns mod). Most of it is there as more content and not great. The Gray Cowl I did not mind but once you play it once, you can replace it with the far better new land mod, but they can work together if you don't mind overlap. Some is 'niche'. I always disable zombies and the ugly pet. Once you select what you want and add mods to smooth it over, its overall not bad.
FrostedBison
A good chunk of my load order is CC fixes, expansions, and integrations since I already happened to have AE. With all those adjustments, it's nice seeing new armors/clothing on NPCs and have some extras to do that fit pretty seamlessly in, but I personally wouldn't have bothered spending money to specifically upgrade. If there's content you really want from it, that might be worth it for you, but you can get better quests, armors, and pets right here on Nexus for free. Dimensionlord1
It's alright (the houses are nice if you want to move your spouse somewhere new, weapons and armor are also cool) though the worst part is downloading all the creation stuff. You have to make sure you're logged into steam and link your bethesda.net account before trying to download it from the in-game menu. Otherwise it'll bug out, and no where is it said or implied you have to do this beforehand.
DirebearCoat
If you have SE do you still need AE? What are the pros and cons between AE and SE?
