Djibli
Hey there, like many others my heavily modded Game broke after the next gen update. I spend a lot of time trying to fix it, installing it clean several times, downgrading it etc. What eventually fixed my game was going into the data folder and deleting all the files manually starting with cc or CC. Those are creative club content files. How did they survive me uninstalling and reinstalling the game multiple times? No idea. Anyway. It fixed it (additionally to using the downgrader and roll back ofc.). Hope this will help some folks. Cheers
363rdChemicalCompany
i have some files with cc but never updated. They are dated Feb 2023 for some reason. Though I never did download Creation Club stuff as far as I recall. BUT steam made some attempts to update me despite me steam settings this I know. Maybe some of those made it through? Some examples are attached. some example wouldn't attach including one called ccsomethingsomethinghellfire They are called: EDIT for conetnet just in case. poster after me has same files shown
showler
Are you actually posting CC content to this thread? You'd better be sure that it's free content or you're seriously violating the rules.
worm82075
Free or not you can not openly redistribute Bethesda's files. My game has never been updated either but these cc files are present regardless.

I never downlaoded any CC content ever, this was an easy copy paste, it wouldnt let me do text only. Looks like same content as mine so its part of game files from worm. So these are not cc files even though labeled cc?
DiodeLadder
I thought all CC contents were pre-downloaded to be unlocked for any Fallout 4 installation because of how things work for consoles. What is showler accusing you of?
Djibli
@worm82075, those files from the screenshot are the files I deleted. After that my game started working again. Just like you I never downloaded any cc content. I was surprised as well to find those files in my folder. First I just copied all of those files into a different folder to test if it was safe to delete them. Then I deleted them from the data folder and my game started working again. Dont ask me where those files come from. As I said, I reinstalled F04 multiple times, including wiping the whole data folder, and all ini files etc. The files I deleted were all files from "ccBGSFO4001-PipBoy(Black) - Main.ba2" to "ccSBJFO4003-Grenade.esl". But if you dont experience crashes or so, I would just leave them inside of the data folder.
worm82075
As you may notice the files in my data folder are just archives, there are no data files(.esl). My guess is that these assets are part of the vanilla download as of some point before the update released. Chances are good that ANY CC ESL or archive downloaded after the update or updated with it will only work with the new game version.
showler
If I recall correctly, the very first batch of CC content was made part of the "base install" of Fallout 4 when Creation Club was first introduced. All other CC content beyond that first batch are downloaded as required. Those files are probably part of that first batch. To be clear, I wasn't "accusing" anyone of anything. Just pointing out that distributing Bethesda's CC content is normally prohibited and never necessary.
fraquar
Those files that are listed are present with 1.10.163, even on GOG. They are completely useless unless you have the .ESL files that can leverage those assets - so I put them in the recycle bin.... Only way to get those .ESL files prior to the update was getting them from Creation Club ($ in most cases - some were free at times).
