IvanTheTerrible1234567
This is the error I get when I try to launch vortex. I don't even have an antivirus and my windows defender is completely turned off.
Pickysaurus
The "appdata" path should be pretty static unless your install of Windows is completely toast. Try typing %appdata% into the "Run" box (Windows Key + R) and see if it opens anything. If it doesn't your Windows install is very, very broken. IvanTheTerrible1234567
Yeah i tried that and it doesn't work. I can type "appdata" into the run box and it takes me straight there. It's just when i add the percent symbols that it doesn't. And if my Windows is broken what should i do? i've done an sfc scan and it didn't find any errors. should i just reinstall it? showler
Does your "appdata" folder have a "roaming" folder in it?
IvanTheTerrible1234567
Yes, it does
showler
Weird. "appdata" should take you to the "appdata" folder and "%appdata%" should take you to the "appdata/roaming" folder. Since that's where the Vortex info is stored it seems likely that "%appdata%" not working as it should is the cause of the problem.
IvanTheTerrible1234567
Yeah it is pretty strange. What should I do?
showler
Googling seems to indicate that you can set the variable of %appdata% to a string of your choice, but I'm not confident enough that I understand it to recommend it.
IvanTheTerrible1234567
Yeah the error i keep getting is that "G:\ is unavailable". that's the drive that failed on me. but i don't understand why it would say that because my appdata folder is on my C Drive. Solution Pickysaurus Posted July 22 Solution Share Posted July 22 Sounds like you may have moved the app data folder to G:\ at one point. You would need to tell Windows to look for it on C:\ again but exactly how I'm not sure
