How on earth do I install mods?

The installation instructions tell me to either use BAIN or do it manually (not recommended).

I've no idea what BAIN is, and when I search the web half the sites have been hijacked by random marketing sites (no, I do not want a good deal on a new bed that isn't available in my country anyway) or are an unintelligible mess of acronyms about what came before BAIN.

The manual instructions tell me I need "some form of archive invalidation set. You can use Wrye Bash, OBMM, or the ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! for this." I don't know what any of those are, and I can't track any of them down.

*Please*, is there a set of simple instructions out there for someone who hasn't been active in the modding community for the last 20 years and just wants to install the mod so they can get past a bug and continue with the game?

Check when that mod page was last updated.  It seems old.

You can use Vortex Mod Manager, Mod Organizer 2 or even Nexus Mod Manager Community Edition.  There are loads of instruction videos on YouTube.

Which game is this for? Installation instructions vary from game to game. It sounds like one of Bethesda titles, in which case if you don't have a lot of mods, manual installation may be the easiest. It may also be best to post your question within the game specific forum rather than in a general one.

I don't know what any of those things are. Can you point me to an easy introduction that is suitable for a random gamer rather than a modder? Preferably text, not videos. I do not get on at all well with video documentation. I can't follow it, and consider anything that only has video documentation to be effectively undocumented.

Which game do you want to mod??? That is a rather important question.
