Vortex does not register Steam is open

Hello,

Vortex Version 1.12.6

Game: Marvels Spider-Man Remastered from Steam

Mod count: 8 mods currently installed

OS: Windows 10/64 bit/16 gig ram

When attempting to launch Marvels Spider Man Remastered an error message pops up that states "This game cannot open while Steam is not running" - the issue is that steam is open, all the pathways are set correctly, and the game launches fine through steam but mods are not working properly. I'm stuck on next steps here, help appreciated

You can start the game manually, but this error implies that something is broken with your Steam install. The message isn't from Vortex, it's from the game by the looks of it.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I did verify the install thru steam and it showed one file failed to validate and reacquired. I am still unable to launch the game thru vortex however so am going to do a full reinstall and cross my fingers it fixes as I have been able to successfully launch other games thru vortex.

Hmm even with a full uninstall/reinstall Spider-Man does not seem to want to launch through vortex. I'm chalking this up as a "better luck next time" and will try again in the future at some point I'm sure.

Sounds like over-protective DRM.

Do you even need to launch from Vortex?  Most games will load mods fine even without Vortex running.
