cerros27
Hi. First post here. I just installed vortex and it seems like a great app. The only issue is that no matter what I do, it doesn't connect to github. What I mean by this is that the extension browser shows nothing: and also the unmanaged games don't show all the games supported by vortex: The reason I think the issue is the connection to github is because this same behavior was described by one on the vortex developers as the pc having issues talking to github: But I can't find any solution and is driving me crazy. I am using windows 11, vortex 1.12.6 (I also tried the beta to no avail). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling vortex like 5 time. Removed the %appdata%/vortex/ folder. I added and exemption for vortex in windows defender to no avail. I am not using any other anti-virus. Tried running as admin. I manually added vortex to the firewall list of allowed apps and ticked both boxes (public and private): And still no luck. Also, each time I launch vortex I get the message that my version is up to date: I would really appreciate any help. Thanks. Solution showler Posted November 3 Solution Share Posted November 3 Yes, not connecting to GitHub will prevent you from updating certain features of Vortex. But that's a result, not the cause. If Vortex is connecting to Nexus Mods but not GitHub it's not a Vortex problem it's a problem with your internet connection. Can you access GitHub with your browser? Try a VPN. If that fixes the issue then try contacting your ISP and find out why you are having trouble connecting to GitHub.
cerros27
Hi. Thanks for the help. Yes, I can always connect to github with no issues at all. I tried the VPN, and it worked indeed. My ISP is starlink and I live in Mexico. I usually never run into this kind of issues. Do you have any idea on why this may be happening with vortex? Thanks
Pickysaurus
If you can access GitHub via the browser but not via Vortex, that implies something on your PC is block Vortex from making the communication or your ISP is messing with the request in some way that makes GitHub's servers reject it.
cerros27
Hi. Thanks for your answer. Is there any way I can troubleshoot this to find the root cause of the issue? thanks.
showler
Do you have another computer you can install Vortex on? That might tell you whether it's an ISP issue. You can also try cycling the power on your router to force it to get a new IP address. That actually seems to fix the issue for a few people.

cerros27
Change my IP configuration from auto (DHCP) to manual then to DCHP again. Apparently, it did the trick. I will let you know in case it fails again. Hopefully, it helps other facing the same issue. Thanks for all the help.
