Issues Running Fallout London

Hello everyone,

I am new to modding and could use help getting Fallout London to run on my PC. Here are the steps I completed:

1. Fresh install of Fallout 4 GOY edition on steam

2. Downloaded Vortex Mod Manager

3. Downloaded the Fallout London Downgrader (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4london/mods/1) and High FPS Physics Fix (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798) using the vortex mod manager. Both of these mods are checked as "Enable" in the Mod manager

4. Downloaded Fallout London

When I attempt to run Fallout London through GOG, I get a message that says "Current game build is not supported. Please install version 1.10.163.0 of Fallout 4." I am trying to figure out why my Fallout 4 file has not downgraded to the correct version even though the correct mod is enabled through Vortex. I did notice when I open my Fallout 4 local files, under steamapps > common > Fallout 4 > Mods, there are no actual files in this folder. Is it possible that vortex is loading the mods into the wrong folder causing the game to not downgrade to the correct version?

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks so much!

The first thing you could do is to right click on your Fallout4.exe and on properties -> Details. There you find the game version. If it's not 1.10.163.0 the downgrade went wrong. The downgrader you used has it's own exe through which the process is started, but you should be aware that it installs additional content. If you want a cleaner install you could use this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81630?tab=files and downgrade to the english pre next-gen version. Do not use Vortex or another mod manager so far. This downgrader is started through it's own exe, too. After downgrade you could check the game version again and if it's 163 you should be able to install FOLON. After install and before you play you will most likely need this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81859. This one can be installed though a mod manager. At last you should take the ini files coming with FOLON and copy them to ....\Documents\My Games\ Fallout 4. FOLON is started through the f4se_loader.exe in your game folder (where the Fallout4.exe is). If you don't run into sometimes reported difficulties with the Creation Club Content you should be ready to go.

I found the Fallout London Downgrader in my Fallout 4 Data folder. I ran the .exe and it gave me the option to run the downgrader. I have the correct version now and was able to run Fallout London.

Huge thanks for the help guys!

Very happy for you. This thread's liable to be used for, well, issues in general running FOLON since it's here and everything.

Here's one for a start. As we know, Fallout London is a total conversion, much as Enderal is for Skyrim.

Currently, several mods purport to travel to the Commonwealth and back but the sheer change to the Fallout 4 game .ba2 files makes that a loser until a means is found for FOLON to copy and change the files, then run each set depending on where you are. It's not a thing I'd even recommend for something like Enderal as that game's a different world than The Elder Scrolls' Nirn.

One more quirk, then I'm done. Team FOLON made possibly the best downgrader around as Fallout got stamped on hard by Todd and his mad lads with what I have unflatteringly termed the Degrade. Even if you finish playing in London, on flushing the folder and reinstalling I recommend using the Downgrader and running the .163 as that version of Fallout 4 isn't broken.

Many thanks to Team FOLON and stay safe.

Mind the Gap.

In the end Fallout:London is a mod.

It doesn't need to "overhaul" your base game setup - though that is how their installer chooses to do things.

If does require specific settings - and that is the domain that a Mod Manager is perfectly suited to manage.

----

In other words - installing Fallout:London doesn't have to be a 1 way trip.

There are guides that allow you to install it as a "mod" without having to invoke it's installer - so you can use your mod manager to switch between a classic modded "Fallout 4" and "Fallout:London".

As to the issue of moving between Boston and London in the same game play - well personally I think that should be obvious that it's something you'd want to experience separately.   Why?   There isn't a working bicycle in Boston, let alone a car, or a trolly, or a train, or a ship in one of the larger harbors in the continental U.S.   Nevermind the fact the airport hasn't seen a working airplane in over 2 centuries.

Fallout 3 and Fallout:New Vegas had the luxury (at least from an immersion perspective) that such transportation was logical.   Maybe not in an instant, but over time.

Boston to London in 2 centuries removed Fallout - it borders on a pipe dream more than impossible.
