Is there a mod to keep settlers form taking guns out of the workshop?

Recommended Posts

I have  a few super heavy machine guns that each weigh 150lbs in game and that I keep as a strategic reserve in the workshop. (for headcanon NPC use for a rainy day).

But my settlers grab them even if they have strengh 3.

Its just too jarring to see a pretty young woman with randomly 35,000 rounds of 50 cal ammo and 2 heavy machine guns in her inventory for no appereant reason at all, especially since there is no way she could carry those.

EDITED for typos

Well there's always the classic of using an constructing a mannequin, since those are actually actors and not containers, settlers can't take anything from them.

There is also this

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48903

And you can tweak game settings to set the range NPC are allowed to search for weapons to 0, but then nobody grabs anything ever, probably not what you want.

A great link.

Thanks! 🙂

I built my own trunk from the workshop and store my extras in it in the settlement. The settlers have never taken anything from it for some reason. Perhaps something to try? Running NG, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Ironically I store some weapons that I intend to give to settlers once I've improved them, so they could take those if needed, but they haven't.

I run this mod right now but the lock doors version only.

perhaps I need to replace it with the version for both containers and doors.

This is the easiest and most trouble free way to stop settler theft.  Several years ago, after losing several custom heavy caliber weapons, I started building my own trunks.  I have had no theft issues since then.

Thanks for confirming that. I keep seeing posts saying that it doesn't work, so it had me wondering, but I had one flamer, one fat boy and one missile launcher so if any of the settlers took anything, I'd know. Since then I've been collecting laser and gauss weapons to hand out and the settlers didn't seem to be taking those either.

I put mine right next to the workshop in Sanctuary. Very handy for keeping extra gear.

Have you considered using one of the Basement mods and just keeping the stuff you don't want the settlers to get their grubby hands on in the basement?

As long as it doesn't link the workshops you should be gold.

Gotta be honest, at my age if I'm babysitting it's 1 or 2 real life crumb-snatchers - not an entire full blown settlement of adults in a game.     😄
