I cannot expect staff to accommodate me alone, so I stood down over the forums when the tweaks were made, as it is only the forums (which I didn't frequent much) and not the nexus site, but I still left and is still not as good as the previous theme. It was a "pick your battles" moment, and the nexus site colour/contrast issues were more important than the forums. I am still not going to campaign just over the forums, nexus site is priority but I will still mention it was better before.

That's fair enough. We're reaching out to others who are experiencing discomfort with the high contrast too. So far we've narrowed it down to the "chips" i.e. the tabs for Mods, Updated, Trending, Popular etc. on the site and the potentially the headings above those. If there's anywhere else you, or others here, find the colours harsh please let me know specifically where they are. The team are also looking into the other feedback that's been raised but I'm personally looking at reducing the high contrast at the moment, while maintaining our AA rating for those with visual impairments.

The last we spoke about contrast on the forums you ended with "yes the forums are/should be a lot more tolerable for people complaining about the high contrast/eye strain. Aka, I'd be able to stand down on my complaints directed at the forums. With this editor, should help with eye strain immensely for those complaining" this was based on the changes we actively made based on your feedback. We haven't changed anything since then, that said, if you have have found that there are more/different issues you are having after spending some more time on the forums, I'll be glad to look into them. We don't want anyone to experience discomfort when viewing the site.

Or are you trying to "gotcha" me, that I am a hypocrite? I am still sure my recommendations did stand down a lot of complaints and that people found the tweaks tolerable compared to before for the forums, and help spare the onset of more complaints. Better or "tolerable" doesn't mean it is or was best, it was just better than the alternative/original update, since staff refused to revert or keep original as an option. I still believe, I did what I could, with what staff would allow at the time, and I hope you are not trying to devalue that, just because I still wish it could be the previous theme before the March 2024 update.

Can you change the Update To This Mod thing, make it look like the old style, I can't see the new style very well and keep missing updated mods

Is this the label that appears on mod tiles for mods you've downloaded in the past and now have a new version available? If so I believe that's already on the list to look into, but I'll double check and add it if not.

No not at all, I referenced your feedback to show that we do listen and make changes based on what people raise, and we're keen to do that again here. I completely understand that "better" doesn’t always mean "best", if there are still issues that need to be addressed, we’re happy to take that feedback into account from yourself and others.

Just as you/staff/devs are probably restrained or confined to certain parameters to accommodate accessibility or whatnot; I was trying to be respectful to that and compromise with that in mind—although begrudgingly. A lot of us cannot help there is a sense of less accessibility and being less user friendly with both colour theme and UI compared to the previous theme. Just don't exactly fault us for trying or repeating to be vocal about our actual wishes vs. what we are willing to compromise on. Passion should not be mistaken for insolence but when people feel you stop or aren't listening then it does and can go nasty (and I do not envy you guys having to deal with that).

I do know staff does take selective feedback, I did mention that in this thread already. Unfortunately, the selective feedback staff wasn't willing to take a year ago has resulted in backlash now. But do look a little more willing at least attempting "wiggle room" with now.

If you were 'listening to the feedback', you would by now realize that the new UI is pretty much universally despised by the USERS of the site.  Staff talks a good game about 'how they are listening to us', but, terribly sorry, if you were actually listening, this conversation wouldn't have gone on for more than 30 pages.....

I get that you only work there, and don't get to make the big decisions. I get that you are restrained by what 'the boss wants'..... I suppose, if Robin wants to screw up his site, that's his prerogative, but, please do NOT try and tell us the 'response is overwhelmingly positive'..... The evidence here on the forums tells an entirely different story.

You could solve ALL of this hate and discontent by simply offering the OPTION of using the old UI, or the New one. Then this thread could go back to being just for 'tweaks' on the new UI....

I understand, if I remember correctly there was a user with visual impairments involved in the discussion who found the higher contrast helpful, which makes balancing different accessibility needs tricky. That's why were still open to feedback, we want to make it right for as many people as we can. We can reduce the contrast significantly in the areas we've managed to nail down as problematic while still maintaining the AA WCAG rating. It just may require a bit of back and forth.
