Quick search now shows previously unavailable data, like your recent searches and your favourite games, which is useful if you want to swap between games on the fly. We know this comes with a tradeoff. The old quick search menu didn’t have enough space to populate it with more data, making it difficult to improve on what we had without a radical change”

Good lord, you didn't listen to ANYBODY about the quick search.

I just posted a lengthy example using the GOG quick search as an example of how the OLD and MORE EFFICIENT Nexus Quick Search Worked.
IN DETAIL, but nope, you're going to stick with that INEFFICIENT OBFUSCATING POP UP WINDOW that block the entire WEBSITE.

The Old Quick Search had a drop-down, a SCROLLABLE DROP-DOWN, also, if you ended up with too many Results, you could just hit ENTER, and be brought to a screen with a LIST of MODS, with how ever many pages it needed.

But the entire point of Quick Search, is to narrow down your search to a few, or ONE Result.

You people don't get it at all.

That Pop up search window is the antithesis of everything “Convenient” as it prevent everybody from SEEING or USING the webpage it completely BLOCKS.

This is why I didn't bother participating in the BETA, from experience, because the Nexus does this every single time, and gives us the illusion that our Feedback is being considered, and then you go ahead and make the changes everybody complains about anyway, always citing these Invisible “THOUSANDS OF USERS” who Liked The Changes, those Thousand, that NEVER POST.
But for some reason, are ALWAYS the ones who are listened to, even though they never say a word ANYWHERE on the Nexus.

To be clear about the new quick search, you can narrow down your search to a few, or one result. The filtering happens on-the-fly in the quick search modal.

Using your example of Diablo, I can steadily refine the search to return more specific results. I can scope it by game and I can scope it by all content or mods.

I can also scroll through content and if there are too many results, hit enter to be taken to the full search results with a list of mods that can be further refined.

It's a different approach, for sure. It can be quickly and easily accessed using "/" key and quit using "esc" key. Personally I can search much more rapidly with this method.

I can return to previous recent searches. I can refine by tags or other parameters.

This is a different approach to what you previously used and what you have been asking for on multiple occasions, I understand that.

Title will also soon be searchable in the filters on the left side, in the next update. It will also be possible to set your default search category in your settings.

There are over 2000 replies to this topic, the vast majority of them are complaints about the new design. so about 90%, give or take. Yet they claim how its only "some" people who dislike the changes.

man i hate this corporate speech and how they just basically threw a PR statement saying, we dont give a s#*! about your feedback, we are moving forward with our changes anyways, if we feel generous enough, we might bring back game artwork.... wow. this is a spit in the face for all of your users

I propose renaming the “Suggestion Board” area of the Forums to “Suggestion Boards, where your opinions go to die”

Seems a bit overly dramatic, sorry. There's 39 posts from one of our lead developers, 37 posts from our head of product and numerous other members of the team responding to feedback.

Your frustration is apparent, but it's overflowing into a lot of fairly cynical posting that basically adds no value to the discussion. To be clear, just because you don't personally get what you want, does not mean that feedback is not being listened to.

Yea, thanks for making an entire paragraph on ONE THING I mentioned, while ignoring the USELESSNESS of having the extra popup window obfuscating the page you're on, and preventing you from interacting with the page.
Also, I DO NOT WANT A TILE DISPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Detailed Post about the GOG Quick Search has the option to SWITCH BETWEEN THE GOD AWFUL TILED DISPLAY, and a LIST VIEW.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've posted my breakdown of QUICK SEARCH TWICE NOW, using the GOG Quick Search as an example of the OLD quick search, and it has gone ignored, and instead all the responses to my quick Search Posts are straight out of "This is Spinal Tap"....with Nigel saying "BUT THESE GO TO ELEVEN"

Big Deal, I can do that stuff in the new UNNECESSARY POP-UP WINDOW,
My point it, that new POP-UP window now requires THREE CLICKS TO USE instead of ONE CLICK that the old search used, and the Pop-Up window BLOCKS you from viewing the page you're on, and prevents you from interacting with the page you're on, and brings the entire workflow TO A COMPLETE HALT.

The NEW quick Search is clunky and TIME CONSUMING
WHY is that being ignored?

ONE MORE TIME

I've been here since 2008, and feedback has NEVER been listened to, and every single time we're told that “THOUSANDS” of “invisible users who never seem to interact with the site have “RESPONDED POSITIVELY to the INVISIBLE POLLS”

It's the same story every single time, when a new design is forced on everybody, no matter how much feedback is given.
It's why I didn’t bother with the beta, because I've participated in them before, and the feedback on them was completely ignored, it always is.

In the meantime, despite all this tinkering, every single time I try to upload a mod I get 'you do not have the required permissions to perform this action' and then get told my mod isn't published when it is, and I have to wait. It's been acknowledged as a bug several months ago yet you continue push new stuff without fixing the old stuff that's actually essential to be working correctly.

This issue is indeed entirely unrelated to the new UI update, and has no place in this thread.

I do believe that it's in for a fix though, and important issues are constantly being fixed and will be detailed in the monthly roundup going out fairly soon.

My main two complaints, list view, and tracked content updates - you're basically telling me I'm in a minority of people that use them so I don't really matter.

Both of these items were mentioned in the article.

The problem is, they address minor issues, and ignore the bigger picture. There are a LOT of posts saying pretty much the same thing, that have NOT been addressed..... And while the staff may like the way the new quick search works, it appears the general populace, you know, the folks that will actually be USING it, don't care for the pop-up window. (and you can count me among that number.) Sure, you can narrow your results as much as you care to, but, if there is more than one option, and you check one, the window disappears.... and the results are gone. Sure, you can 'quick search' again..... or, you can click on the one of the 'previous searches' in the pop-up window, when then shows your search results in the main page.... Why not just skip that additional hoop jumping, and just SHOW THE RESULTS IN THE MAIN PAGE to begin with???? It's the pop-up mechanic folks don't care for, but, as usual, staff seems to like it, so, what the users want, doesn't matter.

I just reposted, for the THIRD TIME, my DETAILED post about the Quick Search, comparing it to GOG's Quick Search.
Because they keep asking for DETAILED POSTS, with screen shots, and diagrams etc...

NOT A WORD.

The only posts they respond to so far are posts that are 3 to 7 sentences, and mostly just comments.

I'm so Effing angry right now, I need to go lay down, and lower my blood pressure, before I have to call an ambulance. JFC
