When actually modding their game to play, they are almost exclusively using the PC because they are typically playing the game from their PC. They are downloading mods, installing with a mod manager, moving files, etc. and so are using the desktop browser.

Nexus said last year (when the user profiles was changed) that "PCs will always remain our highest priority".

We are making the site more mobile friendly, but this is not at the expense of PC users. Modding happens on PCs, so this will always remain our highest priority. 40% of our site visitors are using a mobile, we want both sets of users to have a good experience. Many of the changes we've made to the page are not specifically to make the page more mobile friendly, but to improve the readability, usability and accessibility on desktop.

Update -  Game and Images Quick Search

You may have seen the teaser of Coming Soon quick search results. We're happy to say it's ready. The new quick search now includes games and images in the beta. Please give it a go and see what you think.

Games:

This includes aliased names which we will be adding for common search terms that are used to find each of the games.
E.g. "tes" being used to search for games in The Elder Scrolls series.

The search comes along with a new listing page for images and videos that follow the same formatting and have many of the quality of life updates we have made to the other listing pages.

We have still been working hard on various tweaks, bug fixes and improvements based on the feedback we have received across multiple channels and the site data we are looking at. These are being rolled out into the beta as soon as they are ready.

That wouldn't apply to all games and use cases. You can name your files in that section however you like though!

Of course not, but alot of mods listed are simple patches or alot of files on a specific mod page are patches, not just optional.

  • Optional files are related to the mod itself,
  • patches for third party mods or else are not specifically optional.

I can name the mod file "Patch" but giving it its own category on the "files section" would be much more convenient. It wouldnt just more convenient it would HELP me and all the users in an instant. This topic is about convenience and mod browsing enhancement. Im just telling you what for me as a modders and user would be more convenient.

I'm missing the most important file search sorting function "by Trending". This is the one I use 90% of the time and the primary reason I use the search function to begin with. There is no good alternative. I don't really care how many endorsements or downloads a mod accumulated over the years/decades, I'm more interested to see what shiny new things a community came up with instead of promoting the same old same old.

"Trending Mods" is right at the top of the game mod pages.

That's not what I'm talking about. As I said, this is about the search function. The old design had a separate "Trending" sorting option that didn't limit a search (i.e. search results) to a time-frame, unlike the "Trending Mods" section you're referring to, but could be used to sort all search results of all time by trending. The "new" trending you're referring to is just "sort by Endorsement count accumulated across x days" and only shows results (mods) released within that time-frame. Different thing.

If you use "Endorsements", you get the same result. We'll have a think about making this clearer.
