The new 100(%) reaction

Recommended Posts

Oddly, in current usage, "100" is correct and "100%" is not.

"I'm keeping it 100" is one phrasing.  Strange to only say 90% of the sentence.

They definitely should choose one or the other, though.  A reaction image that says "100" with a tool tip that says "100%" is wrong no matter how it was meant.

I am genuinely unfamiliar the term used this way, is this term used to a specific region or vernacular? I only ever have heard/used phrases such as "I 100% agree" "100% this".

I looked it up so it is just the evolution of "Keeping it real"? I honestly never heard or used this term in my life till now.

edit: basically this is vernacular in origin; so not exactly a universally used term. IMHO "100% agree" has been around longer and has more familiarity but if this is the new net speak, then so be it.

I'm sure it's just a stock reaction that can be turned on from the back end by somebody on the staff.
There IS room for the %, but like I said, it's probably just a stock reaction, because I suggested “THIS”. “100%” and “LOVE” (a Red Heart), but only ONE of the three were activated, so I'm assuming 100 was the only one available

I looked over the host that this forum uses, that I remember any image/icon/emoji should be able to be uploaded/used they just have a few defaults too. I think someone/staff found of this phrase's icon/image and decided the snippet of this phrase would prove a helpful as an emoji/reaction for the forums or they themselves assumed it was a 100% icon/image not realizing the actual images is a "Keeping it real" variation.

Demorphic literally added the 100 reaction to my post, and as a reaction to it as a semi-joke
That was the very first time it showed up, it gave me a chuckle.
And 100s you see in earlier posts, are there now from people coming along later in the thread after they added it, and using it.

So he accidentally used the 100 from the "I'm keeping it 100" instead of the 100% you asked for? Oof...

No idea. I know that YouTube also uses just "100" as well.

Maybe I am just not a person who says "keeping it real" ever LOL and cannot relate, and I find this a disjointed reaction to discussion posts.

But I do say "100%" or "This^" or "I 100% agree" normally—especially over discussions.
