PlayaCharacter Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Since it is extremely rare for me to have zero complaints about any website's redesign, I figure I ought to make note of it. Once I figured out where y'all put everything, I'm fine with the changes. Good job, guys. 1
coldspiral Posted May 4 Posted May 4 The new home page might be good for new or returning user game discovery, but it's a minor downgrade in convenience for frequent use. If the user is logged in, the 12 featured games should be taken from their favourites and sorted by recent usage. For example, while I may be a fan of both Skyrims, Cyberpunk, and Baldur's Gate 3, I'm not hunting for mods for them right now. I'm currently looking at mods for Starfield and the Oblivion Remaster, and although I've tagged those games as favourites, that means I still need to open the games tab or search bar and select them that way. It may only be an extra click, but the grid of 12 games is right there and currently none of it is being used by me. If I did feel like sorting games by downloads I could do that with the "view all" link.
smallstonefan Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I have to cast my vote for going back to the UI before you guys rolled this one out. This feels like it is change just for the sake of changing things. It's so much clutter to get to what I want. I miss the feature page where I could click for more and it would take me to the next page and not make me scroll through everything I just saw. I miss having less clutter so I could see what was new quickly and easily and move on with my day (something I do many, many times a day). I miss the spacing and aesthetic of the old interface - it felt streamlined and productive. This one "looks pretty" if you aren't an actual user, but it feels bloated and gets in my way; it is a step backwards for me in almost every single way. When I think of all the features that could have been added to the site with the resources spent on this update it makes me sad. I ran a software company - I know this feedback hurts. As a very long-term, lifetime member I felt I needed to say it. 2
AmeliaZ Posted May 5 Posted May 5 When your first visit description tab, the requirements links are normal like this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32444 You click files tab, then click back to description tab, the requirements links will be like this: https://www.nexusmods.com//mods/32444 GIF animation attached:
Qrsr Posted May 5 Posted May 5 From my point of view, the landing page must not contain the elements in the center concerning Brose all your mods Upload mod can be removed, speaking of me not needed at all. The image i have added shows where all the content is stored anyway. You could think about a tutorial page hyperlink in that spot instead for newcomers. Most experienced modders will hardly ever use the landing page and refere to the UI elements concerning their account. Concerning more general UI experience: merge the forum and mod page account finally and stick to either one design im still having the degraded old style website when clicking on the mod page link, but when i click on my account instead i have the new UI which is open to the public - what is this? complete non sense Example: The new UI lacks the option to show "hidden" or "Unpublished/Released" mods The old UI allows to show the hidden mods instead = Complete confusion ??? PLEASE fix this its a serious flaw in your design. You should make more use of the UI from my point of view the old UI does nothing different if you keep the folder structure. The new UI design however is much more simple which i like.
jaeenox Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Huge improvement to home page today! Still no list view is very disappointing.
xRay4004 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Can't we just get the option to set the previous main page with all the games as default. I don't want to have put all the games I want to see as my favorites in order to access them quickly. PS. I just noticed that you get the "useful" previous main page if you're logged out. Guess i'll have to look at mods for games i'll never play like fifa because someone thought this new layout would be good, great job team.
Community Manager Featured Comment Pickysaurus Posted May 6 Community Manager Featured Comment Posted May 6 Earlier today, we released a new, more personal logged-in homepage. Any comments following this one are likely related to that rather than the "logged out" version which was shown before. 1
jaeenox Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I have time for more detailed feedback now. Again, this newest logged in home page is a huge improvement! Some things that are improvements I would like to see: 1) My games are out of alphabetical order again. 2) Please let us set default date range, for example, Fallout 4, Mods, Most Endorsed brings up a blank page. I have to set the date to All Time every time even though I am still logged in. 3) LIST VIEW setting EVERYWHERE 4) It looks like you might be heading in the right direction with the Customize button. I would close\minimize the collections and media sections if given the opportunity. 5) Please give us the ability change the white text on black background. I may be the only one but when in bold like this: Mod comment search links: Comments found through search now include a link that scrolls directly to the original comment on the relevant page. Mod removal messaging: Mods that have been removed now show whether they were taken down by the author or by staff. Supporter Image listings: These pages have been migrated to the new design system and now match the layout of standard Images and Videos pages. Media pages redesign: The generic Media pages, linked from the game home pages and showing both images and videos, now follow the updated design. Mobile search UI: We’ve updated the mobile search interface to match earlier improvements made on desktop. Custom date range on mobile: You can now filter by a custom date range when searching or browsing for mods on mobile devices. Wider notifications dropdown: The dropdown has been widened so that longer text entries are no longer cut off. Improved error messages: Errors that occur when fetching content now include more helpful messaging and links to contact support or check the site status. Preferences: We’ve made changes which make preferences linked to in the ‘Logged-in Homepage’ section better. If you have previously set your preferences to “Latest” or “Tracked" It is a blurry mess. Thank you for listening especially about the banner at the top and the garish background.
Qrsr Posted May 7 Posted May 7 New landing page looks MUCH better! Another pov... your entire concept is about mods, and you support mod authors. Put this one here directly infront of every modders face everywhere like a super advertisment. It will surely make people to think twice about modding. Eventhough nobody will ever buy their own island, safe house or hot tub it is a nice thing! It is buried somewhere in the middle of your landing page. Thats a true waste. Make it appear more. Maybe even on the left and or right panel ...
