Iv00-Well suffice to say I'm going to need a new car, and a new car-port. It was a pretty decent sized tree. I'd guess it weighed about 3-4 tons maybe more-a big gum-tree, an australian broadleaf tree with a long, Elm-like trunk, pale bark, extremely hard, dense wood, and slender leaves. Apparently they're good at smashing cars too.

I was watching the paralympics over dinner and I saw some things I found absolutely inspiring. An Egyptian man with no legs lifting 249 kilograms to win a gold medal, simultaneously shattering his own world record-and then turning around and requesting a chance to go out one last time, a de-registered fourth run to see just what he could lift. He set the bar ridiculously high-253 kilograms, and failed the lift, but only barely. Pretty amazing to watch. The other was a man with, fundamentally only one functional limb, finnishing well in a freestyle swim. It's all well and good to swim freestyle with two arms and two legs, but this man had no legswhatsoever, one-and-a-half arms, and seemed to be blind to boot. Heroic.

A river red gum-a common sight along Australian's waterways, also frequently grown for firewood and furniture due to the beautiful firey orange colour it gets when polished. This particular specimine is over 700 years old.

The Subaru Impreza: Embodying the precision engineering and build quality Japan's cars are famous for, the venerable Impreza is a staple car of the trackdayer set. Able to function abley as a family car during the week and a high performance sports car on weekends, it's become an almost omnipresent machine at amateur racing events everywhere. Despite it's outstanding quality, Subaru failed to properly red gum-proof the roof structure. Shame on them.

Yes I like the Subaru cars, always have. I'd go for one, tho it'd have to be a deep red or china blue in colour

You can"t really go wrong with any of the Japanese brands, their level of build quality is just exceptional, and their cars tend to be more generalised aswell, such as many of their compacts being available with very powerful turbo engines, giving a sports car feel without sacrificing either the boot, or the back seat. If I could replace it with anything I'd have a Nissan GT-R. They've been making these, on and off, since about 1962, and I doubt there's a car on earth with a better repuation or more credibility. With the the GT-R Nissan found an idea that just worked, and then slowly perfected it. Fast cars aren't that rare, neither are safe ones, or affordable ones. What's uncommon is a machine that's that fast, that safe, and that afffordable. It's racing heritage is impressive aswell-with up to 98% win rates in some serieses.

 It's always a great pity to see a high performance sports car being destroyed, but even more so when it's an Impreza. I'm guessing/hoping you had it properly insured?

My first car was actually a first generation Subaru Impreza LX. Nothing fancy of course, since I was but a poor student back then, but still.
