Can anyone tell me what's the purpose of having multiple screens? I just don't get it.

or to run different OS's at the same time on each screen, run one OS on all 3 and have multiple programs open etc

Interesting. The pic just ain't something I like, nor is running 3 different OS' (VirtualBox would only eat my CPU/RAM resources that are already crappy and there's no point to it), the last thing you mentioned is interesting however.

I've found the same monitor I have (21" Samsung SyncMaster 943) for cca 25$ (150kn) while I was looking for a laptop screen so I was wondering what would I get by having 2 monitors at the same time. I know that with two monitors ,coupled with Debian's handling of multiple visual outputs, I could get 2 entirely different desktops with 4 different virtual workspaces each which would look great.

However, the usability of such a setup is questionable, what could I possibly ever do to need more than one monitor? It looks to me as if that setup is only eye-candy with no real advantage over virtual workspaces.

Ah well, I might as well get that monitor in case mine dies, having backups is always good.
