So did you set him straight by saying, there is more to Elderscrolls then just Skyrim. Then accusing him of not knowing much about Skyrims lore sense it has many references to older games.

Yes, I said something along the lines of, "you know that Skyrim is The Elder Scrolls 5, right?" He acted as if he was a master of Skyrim lore, and yet he didn't even know that there were games that came before it... pitiful.

That's a problem I've been having recently as well. The was this guy in my Steam league who really did personifies the phrase "that guy" He was an idiot. He was invited on the premise that he claimed to be a professional gamer with a cupboard full of trophies, and one of his country's best. Unsurprisingly he was actually a fairly stereotypical American: he whined constantly, was always throwing his weight around, and the only insult he knew was "autistic" a word he clearly had no understanding of given he once described my car as autistic. Every day he would run his mouth on the forums claiming to be the best and bragging about how he should be the leader, and how we were all a bunch of autistic noobs living in our mother's basements.

 

Well unfortunately for him he was about as manipulable as a lump of warm clay. I conned him into racing me, and guess what: he didn't even know how a "stick-shift" worked-he couldn't even work out how to turn his car on!. So much for pro. He's gone now.

Also its snoowmegadoooonnnn!!!! I also hate manual transmission, I'm glad the car industry is phasing out manual, they say soon it may be the thing of the past. Crosses fingers.

I dislike saying someone has a low IQ, it's lazy and it lets them off the hook. A low IQ is a disability and it's also an excuse. Most people we'd think of as in idiots are actually lazy or wilfully ignorant. Stupid I can forgive because a person with a sub-average IQ was born that way. Arrogance and wilful ignorance(which you'd normally label stupidity in modern english) are deliberate choices however, and I don't forgive anyone who chooses to be blind.

 

And I agree about "true" manual transmissions. I'm not a big fan-they're mechanically inefficient and not especially user-friendly. I do like changing gears though-so give me a Sequential gearbox or a double-clutch anyday. It's got the best aspects of an auto and a manual with non of the issues.

This may be paranoia speaking, but I sometimes wonder if Steam is actually TRYING to get me to hate its guts.

 

Thank God I got Skyrim for console instead. I'd gladly give up the ability to use mods if it meant not having to use Steam.

Found out it was a girl that is friends with my brother who is a freshman in high school. Apparently he gave my number to a friend of his, and somehow it ended up with two girls he knows. :facepalm:

Ok, another story: I was talking to this guy today, and we somehow started talking about The Elder Scrolls. He asked me how long I had been an Elder Scrolls fan for, and I said since 2003. He then looked at me like I was stupid and said, "Skyrim has only been out for 2 years."

Oh god... I've seen this so many times. I've seen it with Oblivion and Skyrim. I don't remember Morrowind because that was a while ago and that was the first one I played. "DUDE! Did you hear Oblivion 2 is coming out?!" NO! NOOOOOOO!!!

And the guy who argued with me about how Mass Effect 3 broke lore by having anything Prothean in it and a few other stupid arguments. I mean, seriously? He said he beat the first one and that nothing Prothean is in it. :facepalm: I then proceeded to look at his profile and he hadn't even played the first or second ones. In fact he hadn't beaten the third, and I assumed it was because most of his hours in the game were spent in the multiplayer.
