Vindekarr
It's pre-release: what do you expect? It's not a finished game, so judging it's reliability now is like being surprised that an unfinished boat can't float. http://c3270052.r52.cf0.rackcdn.com/reviews/ships/disney-fantasy-under-construction-review.jpg "she ain't ready to sail yet, cap'n!" billyro
Oh, I thought it was already released. My bad.
Vindekarr
It's well over a month away yet. Decided to buy Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition, to brush up on my RPG-Fu in time for DS2. I also bought Morrowind, because I realised Steam sells it: the only reason I haven't played Morrowind to date, was because by the time I discovered the ES series, you couldn't get a copy in Australia. ub3rman123
Only downside is that the Steam overlay doesn't play nice with MGE. I was hoping I wouldn't have to close the game every time I needed to look up something.
billyro
Yeah, the MGSO is a bugger to get working, but it looks nice if you succeed. I haven't, though, not on this laptop.
ddmlink
Hopefully Namco will decide on a good option to replace GFWL with in Dark Souls... MGSO is very nice. It would be difficult for me to play Morrowind without it these days.
Vindekarr
What's amazed me about Morrowind is how great the graphics are. Vanilla isn't bad for 2003, and the modded version I'm running looks fantastic. It's got some MMO-like jaggedy bits, and the faces are "painted" on as textures, but IMO they're better than anything I could create in Oblivion. As for 'Souls, it really strikes me as my sort of game. Brutally difficult, hideously overcomplicated, and joyfully masochistic. I'm having a hell of a lot of fun so far, rampaging around in my underpants as a giant doughey-faced man-baby, doing cruel, evil things to other new players. billyro
So, I figured out why Skyrim has been slow all this time. I just installed ENB 0.246, and it told me that Skyrim is using the Intel HD 4000 card instead of my high processing Nvidia card. I never realised this because I set Skyrim to use the Nvidia card in the Nvidia control panel, but obviously that didn't work. Does anyone here know how I can force Skyrim to use the proper card? I tried but it's being rebellious. EDIT: Ok, I fixed it. Runs better now. EDIT 2: Aaaand back to games that are actually good on this computer. Fallout NV, I think you need some exercise... Vindekarr
<snip> That's so weird, I had a very similar experience while installing Dark Souls. It steadfastly refused to accept my gamepad, or even register it, despite it's controls being designed for it, and the manual recommending it. I spent about two hours tinkering with it and playing with different drivers and Emulator settings. In the end, the problem was a lot simpler than that. I have two controllers: my Xbox pad, and a Logitech G27. For some bizarre reason, Dark Souls was giving the G27 priority, and ignoring the 360 pad. This was why I couldn't control the game-all I had to do was unplug the G27. Most games ignore my G27, which is why I leave it plugged in. It's a highly specialised game controller designed for racing games, and is standard-issue hardware for most serious racers. Because it's quite bulky and lacks thumbsticks, most modern games ignore it completely. Dark Souls for some reason, didn't. It's one of the best racing wheels in the world, but try playing Dark Souls on it! http://www.simhq.com/_technology2/images/technology_153a_002.jpg
billyro
I think my brother had a similar experience with controllers. He has NBA 2k14 on his laptop, and he wanted to play two player with me. Only one controller would register though, despite both being plugged in. We still played, but he had to use the keyboard. Why can't these things work in harmony, like how humans do? ... Oh wait. Also, is that your photo? Just asking because I'm wondering why the gear thing is on the right-hand side if you're an Aussie...
