Thor.
Yes there is a possibility that the hover board may be just around the corner if this doesn't turn into a hoax like many other videos like the hover car from Volkswagen. Remember this and the actual hover board video, is it real or fake you be the judge. If you pay attention there is a yellow crane in each scene that seems to suspicious if you ask me, I'm leaning towards fake. Also seems to be allot of money wasted to make such a fake video if you ask me, so that 30% chance it could be real, but the evidence to me is leaning towards again fake. Because the stuff in the background if you pay attention to the finer details. Edited March 5, 2014 by Thor.
Illiad86
It's fake...they pretty much used the same special effects that they used in the movies. Further pointing toward the idea that it’s all a hoax: The project’s “engineer” seen in the video is an actor. The hovering celebrities’ clothes pouch at the points where their harnesses were obviously digitally removed from their suspiciously hunched shoulders; meanwhile, some of the shadows of the cranes holding them up remain. Also, hoverboards aren’t real. PR stunt...prolly for one of the celebs. Maybe they making a new Back to the Future movie... that's all Hollywood can come up with these days anyways...prequels, sequels, and reboots. Who knows, it's probably another one of those stupid stunts that Jimmy Kimmel has been doing lately. Wasting money is what these jerks do  Get it viral, laugh in everyone's faces because it's fake, and profit. Also says to download their app...I wonder what it does. Prolly shows you a "troll face" when you open it . If they were real, they would probably be about 4 times bigger than that. The personal jetpacks they've been creating are huge and barely lift a person up. Also, if this was real, this "engineer" wouldn't have started by making a toy IMO. This would be a good application towards factory work. Wouldn't it be nice to have little "hover platforms" to move boxes, parts, etc around? Also, these hoverboards would be loud as all heck..unless this "engineer" found some way to use superconductors with ambient temperatures. Too many holes for it to be real. Maharg67
I was more drawn to the fake hovercar idea than I was to the hoverboard one but both make for interesting viewing. I enjoyed watching the VW hovercar video more than I did the other one.
Vindekarr
It's completely fake. I work in the Auto industry, VW can't come close to affording a project like that. Nobody can. That TV spot was created by VW to try and drum-up local interest during their move into the Chinese market. In reality, VW is a very low-tech and extremely conservative manufacturer; if any car company was to make a hover car, it wouldn't be them. They'd never fund the project, and if someone else did they'd be among the last to take up the technology. Their motto, "vorsprung durch technik"(lead through technology) is completely bullcrap: VW's factories and cars are years behind the curve, and the former juggernaut is rotting from within. They're the EA of the car world, and while they're too big to fail, they're no longer relevant. As for the hoverboard, that's fake as well. When I was at university I used to help out in drama class with their setbuilding: it's pretty easy to fake a levitating object, all you have to do is distract the viewer's eyes from what's actually supporting it. That's the trick to all magic and good hoax-work: distraction. Don't believe everything-hell-most of what you see on youtube. If a stage-hand can fake a flying skateboard, just imagine what a trained special effects artist can do. Also bear in mind, that's a very low-resolution camera. The lower the resolution, the easier it is to hide things.
