Why does nobody contact the db about maven black briar?

I mean, seriously, I know she has ties to the db but once the black sacrament has been preformed the target must be eliminated right?
And surely the guy who had preformed it would pay a lot of gold.

But I'm not sure about one thing, if the black sacrament is preformed then the target most die or can the db decline the offer and not kill the target?

Have you done the Dark Brotherhood quest before? The Black Sacrament is effectively meaningless, as there's currently no one in the Brotherhood to hear it. The player character is meant to be the Listener; if they never join the Brotherhood, then the Night Mother has no one to name targets to.

These days, the Brotherhood seems to work on rumour. When they hear of someone having performed the Sacrament, they approach them and act as if all is normal. They don't want to perpetuate the idea that there's no way for the majority of people to contact them. Maven has physical contacts to them who she can get in touch with to put out contracts - I think Nazir is her contact, but it's been so long I don't recall offhand.

Considering their reliance on tangible contacts rather than on the Night Mother, I think they'd be reluctant to kill someone as important to their survival as Maven.

i did do the db quest, lots of times.

when you become the listener there is no more need for maven, only thing i can think of is she could keep the ties between the dark brotherhood and the thieves guild, still, the black sacrament means the target has to die, no exception. unless im still confused and they can decline a contract

The spoiler tag is the third

Hard to believe that there is anyone out there that has not played Skyrim through, but, just incase, you might want to put spoiler tags around your spoiler info.

how?

The spoiler tag is in the pull-down menu of the third icon to the left on the top toolbar. Highlight whatever the spoiler is, then select spoiler from that toolbar menu.

Alternately type
text
this faster.

The Dark Brotherhood is a business. They're not the 'Ooh evil' garbage we see in Oblivion and in Skyrim. If they have to pick sides, they're going where the money is. And Maven controls the money.

They'd probably kill anyone who put a hit on the Blackbriars just as a message to keep others from trying it.

Not completely, without a listener and the night mother they go where the money is, but if the night mother tells the listener to go or do something he cant do anything about it, if he refuses he better be ready to face sithis himself.

Well, part of it is simply because according to the Game, Maven needs to be around in case Riften is taken by the Imperials, as she replaces Laila Law-Giver as Jarl. The whole point of her being untouchable is handled by her "connections". Also, not every person who prays the Black Sacrement is promised to have a DB member sent to them. Sithis probably has better plans for her anyway.
