I know that Someguy wouldn't restrict anyone from playing the mod, but it just wouldn't make sense if your working for the NCR but are aligned with the Legion. Yeah, the whole "being forced to defend the town" In Russel's mod annoyed me, but atleast I didn't have to be happy about it, and I could see my character possibly helping the town for a price (SInce my character wasn't aligned with the Legion yet). I just hope that we aren't working for the NCR again in this mod, so that it can fit in with my character. I can think of reason why someone would attack the Khans though. Revenge, they help kill you when working with Benny. But, that's why there are disguises no?

I agree that a short-sighted player might want to kill the Khans because "dey helped Benny shoot me in da head" but it is so much more useful to have them neutral. For one thing, the Khan armorer has some of the best stuff in the game early on. However, you might be able to talk to Finley wearing Khan armor. I have never tried that. I was thinking about that when I mentioned Russell's quest running into a problem if Khan's were hostile. Frankly, I do not remember whether defending the town causes you to lose rep with the Legion or not. Never done a Legion play-through so I just have not noticed.

Why kill the Khans

- they're raiders

- they produce drugs that intoxicate the entire New Vegas area and specially supply the Fiends and other very destructive gangs

- they have started as a gang and continue to be a gang even now, after more than 100 years, they still continue their harmful ways

- stubborn, unwilling to change, always ready to kill or destroy

- violent, murderous, vicious, often prey to their own "medicine"

- useless to the Courier (and whatever items they can provide can be found anywhere else as well - unless you plan on wearing a Khan armour, that is)

- due to their limited use and importance, spending a whole lot of time trying to convince them to join your cause is pointless, and if left unchecked they will be harmful later: Legion is already very strong, no need to reinforce it with fanatical warriors

- even if the Courier decides to get their support, they cannot be integrated well enough in a future structure, for

1. independent leadership would mean the Khans continuing their ways, which end up with an intoxicated, dying Mohave

2. NCR way won't work, given their growing incompatibility

3. Legion won't allow Khans to exist, only Legion

4. House wants them out of the picture.

That being said, I still saved them a few times. But lately I find myself less willing to put up with their petty demands and just exterminated them as the pest they are.

I think I will refrain from commenting further on the Khans, lest this thread be further hijacked. People click on the thread to find out to check on the progression of the mod rather than to hear a debate on whether or not to kill Khans. Yeah, I know, I probably started the irrelevant discussion with one of my comments.

Geez dude, there's no need to be a pointless jerk about it. We were just discussing. Also, I like to roleplay, in case you haven't guessed. Which means I usually do kill the Khans on each playthrough, armor or no. However, I didn't kill them on my current Legion-aligned character, since they help us in the Battle. Yes, it does work. I was vilified by the Khans, but I disguised myself and I could walk around freely and continue Russel's quest. You do lose rep. with the Legion if you start killing the generic ones. My computer isn't the best though, so I had to skip the main battle. Thankfully, killing Titus and his 2 body guards don't lower rep. So I managed to come out with the Legion still Neutral.

@Khan99-Yes. I should not have made the snide comment about only "short-sighted" players killing Khans. There are clearly decent RP reasons to do that and everyone should play the game as they like. As a legion member, did you eventually have to leave Russell at home or fire him? Are you able to do the added quests for New Vegas Bounties 2 (eg Enemy of my Enemy)?

I never brought Russel with me to the Fort, after I made up my mind about joining the Legion I think it was a better idea just to fire Russel. However, I'm pretty sure if I still wanted to hire him I could, since Someguy said you can still have Russel follow you if your a Legion member, even though it wouldn't make much sense. The same goes for NVB 2, in which, even if your Legion, you can still do the quests, even if it doesn't make sense. I finished most of the bounty quests for NVBII before I went Legion, so I can move on with the story. I've played through NVBII a number of times so I know which bounties I could hunt without losing rep with the Legion or which ones were obviously only helping the NCR and not the Mojave in general (That one bounty that involved killing a family for defending their home against the NCR as an example). Anyways, I most likely can complete the added quests if I want (due to the same reasons as Russel) but I don't because it just doesn't make sense for me to do so.
