Marcus Wolfe
Greetings ladies and gentlemen. This here be an infodump of things you need to know in order to survive in a post zombie apocolypse world. Please contribute, as sharing this vital information will help us all survive should the worst happen. The golden rule of survival in a world like this is NEVER GO ALONE. You should always have another set of ears and eyes around to watch your back, and 2 heads are always better than one. If you do encounter zombies in your area, it is recommended that you remove yourself and anyone else you can from that area. It is a good idea to move far up north, or into mountainous terrain, where the cold will debilitate the zombies. Moving to a military base (where there are trained soldiers, engineers, doctors and scientists) is a good idea as well. Alert, a military base in Alaska, is an excellent choice because it offers both these advantages. If cold terrain is out of your range, try to get somewhere flat with few tall objects so you can see the zombies coming. Death Valley would be particularly good for this, as it is not only extremely flat, but there's so little life there the zombies wouldn't even come around. Deserts offer similar benefits, but take into consideration survival issues other than zombies. If nothing else, try to move somewhere with very few zombies. If you are stuck in an urban area, live in a multistory building. Destroy all stairs accessible from the ground floor beyond any hope of use. While you may use the elevator to access any other floor, never take it to the ground floor. You don't want to have the doors to open only to find that a few zombies wandered in since you went down. Also, the elevator will eventually stop working, and the last thing you want to happen is to be stuck on the ground floor. Set up a manual system to get up and down between the ground floor and second to ground floor that only a human could use (ie, a ladder that your friend on the second floor lets down). Alright, if this goes well, I'll be discussing vehicles next post.
Retribution
Zombies will never exist.
Maharg67
I suggest the setting up of booby traps that are obvious to thinking humans but will attract and destroy zombies somehow. Learn to use old fashioned style armour against zombie blows and biting, clawing attacks. Slicing off zombie heads with a sword is gruesome and takes some learning but it will not run out of ammo. Crossbow bolts and bow arrows can be reused once the heads are properly cleaned of zombie yech. Do not get cornered. Problem with city buildings is if a major fire breaks out and starting sweeping across the city, you could easily be trapped. Zombies burn, they dod not try to put out fires. Interesting concept. Trandoshan
Zombies will never exist. Zombies are: "A zombie is a creature that appears in books and popular culture typically as a reanimated dead or a mindless human being." So, in a way... Colmes on the John Hannity show? CommanderCrazy
SET UP:Multi story (Preferably 3 story, easy to escape) building, with all exits & windows blocked.Damage / destroy the stairs, replace with a roll up rope ladder. On the top floor, single out 1 room. Fill with provisions & a heavy object to bar the door. TRAPS / SAFETY:Set up a network of tins / cans to alert you of presence in the building, should they rattle without warning move up to the top floor, rolling up ladders as you go.On the top floor, get into the prepared room & bar the the door. Get ready. When ready, assess the problem, if the problem turns out to be non-hostile, let them up. ATTACK / DEFENCE:When attacking / defending yourself, move fast & strike hard. Try not to get cornered. If you get cornered, look for a gap and try to go through it. If not, hop that someone else can help you. That's all I got so far.
Marcus Wolfe
Contrary to popular belief, one of the greatest land vehicles in a Post Zombie Apocalypse World is a bicycle. It is fast, quiet, requires no fuel and only low maintenance compared to a car. Next best options would be go carts, motorcycles and ATVs. Bear in mind, however, that this is only true when your primary defense against zombies is speed. If you need physical barriers to protect against the zombies, or to plow through them, conventional automobiles are your best bet. The greatest vehicle in a Post Zombie Apocalypse World is a Solar Zeppelin. Unlike planes or helicopters, zeppelins do not require fuel to remain in flight, and by coating the zeppelin in solar panels all the energy for the propeller, lights and life support systems can be obtained. LHammonds
A Zeppelin? Really? I guess they don't have bad storms where you live. A floating balloon = pending crash where you don't want to be. A bicycle is not the best, a trike is! You will need to transport goods and you can only carry so much in a backpack and a trike adds additional stability. Regarding weapons, there will be no problem finding weapons. The problem will be the ability / skill to defend yourself in close quarters. Martial Arts is #1 life-saving weapon. After keeping yourself alive long enough to find a safe spot, the next thing you have to do is figure out how to feed yourself beyond the scope of scavenging...which will eventually run dry. This is where places in England would come in VERY handy such as castles and walled exteriors. Even if in disrepair, it is a better starting point than nothing at all. But it has to be large enough to grow food and have access to water and livestock. This also means the refuge will have a maximum headcount as to how many it can sustain on internal resources only...which will be very few. Keep in mind that farm land needs to be properly cared for and cultivated over a period of years to reach a point that can grow food well. Medical supplies will also be in short supply and you will need to know administer first aid and field-dress wounds to reduce chances for infection. In other words, you need to know a LOT and you can't just pick this sort of stuff up "after" the fall of civilization. You have to be learning this stuff now. If you don't know this or have plans to learn, then you'd best hope that you die in the initial attack. hehehe. But since this is all fantasy, it also depends on what "kind" of zombies we are talking about here which determines what kind of tactics to employ. Are we talking about slow-moving zombies that cannot climb a ladder or use machinery? Or are we talking about the super fast zombies that can scale walls (ala Resident Evil)...in which we'd be screwed. If we are talking about the slow-moving kind, humanity would not have much of a problem eventually wiping them out with ingenuity...but if they are the more advanced RE sort, then we are in for a world of hurt. :teehee: LHammonds

antonkr
Hmm what about being prepared before it happens. I suggest everyone to make their own plan about how to survive. About air vehicles. Air vehicle is the perfect getaway. It takes time to learn to fly it but almost every one can fly an ultra light aircraft.Rule of thumb about airplanes. Never put it to max throttle. I suggest to fly at75% throttle to avoid over speed. Lastly remember to check fuel gauge. Unlike in the car when plane has no fuel it aint stopping in midair. If you aren't a pilot I recommend not to fly at all.
CommanderCrazy
I've taken pilot training!
