Kestrellius
No, not his Voice. Just his voice. You know his first line in the game? Besides "mgghrrhrhhm", that is. "Legends don't burn down villages." That line makes me wish I was a Stormcloak supporter.
Hyacathusarullistad
Right? I was huge on becoming a Stormcloak on my first playthrough, and followed the guy in blue into Helgen Keep specifically because he was tight with "that Alfric guy", as I referred to him at the time. Kestrellius
Yeah, precisely. It's like...oh, snap! The Imperials are about to execute me! Ulfric is rebelling against them! He's awesome! ...and then you realize that he's a slightly crazy despot with a cult of personality...

I for the first few days, I was gung-ho for the Stormcloaks, even if I thought their view of Talks was slightly... Rose coloured. I even joined the Stormcloaks on my first play through (ish, I never did finish it). But as a pathologic reader, I read everything, talked to everyone, and eventually I hit a wall. I looked around and suddenly thought "oh god... Did I join the dark side!?". The truth is of course more complex than that, but that was my reaction after about 15 hours of gameplay. LeddBate
"Cult of personality", -agreed. Between his brief appearance at the beginning and Ralof and Gerdur's down-to-earth (Tamriel?) common sense lines at Riverwood I wanted to trot right off to Windhelm and join the intolerant bast- uhm, I meant Stormcloaks, right away. notmyhome
I was like, "What do you mean we have to invade Whiterun??? I'm the friggin Thane of that city, no way I'll turn against these people who have taken me in when I was new to this country."
Kestrellius
I actually just joined the Stormcloaks on my new Redguard character. (I'd done that once before, but I generally go Imperial.) I'm starting to revise my opinion of Ulfric, a bit. Not in his favor, just...I think he's nuts, basically. I mean, one second he's going on about how he's not sure if the people are with him, and the next he up and starts ranting about how he's fighting for all the people he's seen die. If I had to guess, I'd say Galmar is slightly crazy too, or is just power-hungry. I'd speculate that he's the Thalmor agent who's almost certainly in Ulfric's inner circle, but he apparently can show up in Sovngarde.

Jarl Laila of Riften supports the Stormcloaks but has little faith in Ulfric, himself. Jarl Dengeir simply calls Ulfric the devil he knows (as opposed to the faceless bureaucrats of the Empire). As for Galmar, he is basically Zhang Fei to Ulfric's Liu Bei. In fact, he is probably how Liu Bei was, historically. Not necessarily right, but sure could convince the common people that he was. MidbossVyers
A voluntary cult of personality. Laila's son, Saerlund disagrees. Yes, but he doesn't support the cause, in addition to the person.
