ylle
Not wanting to blow up my components or somethingsuch, I have trouble finding good info on good temps for my GPU and CPUMy core2duo 3ghz runs at 65c during load in oblivion. Never more.whileas my radeon 5770 can reach temps up to 68 degrees. while under load.I run the game on like, highest settings the ingame UI will let me, without AA and AF set to 8x I think. Lots of performance sapping mods, so yeah I guess I'm running my system pretty hard. Not that I mind the actual performance loss, no. Heat worries me however. The C2D is stock everything I think and the Radeon 5770 is factory OC'd. Right now I only have one case fan, so it might be a good idea to invest in a new one for the front intake? Of course that means I have to saw off a bit off of my front plate, but eh, rather have a ghetto looking computer that works than a burning heap of silicone/plastic. Using CPUID Hardware Monitor. CommanderCrazy
Bloody hell. Do you run a sealed case with a tiny 6cm fan?How dusty is it?I can run a super overclocked GTX260 half that temperature..... PS. Get a new case
ylle
It's not that dusty, but airflow is nonexistent.Like, yeah that only casefan + open side is all it got for cooling. It's a real crappy case too, so I might aswell upgrade next month. All piano black with fake chrome details and ugly blue LEDs, but it came with the computer, and it was cheap.Ah well, might aswell lay off gaming until I can get a new case :P Do note, it's been running about this 'hot' since I bought it in 2007. It's a shoddy Acer prebuilt.

evilneko
Both temps are well within tolerance. It can't hurt to improve your cooling however. Especially since if Oblivion puts enough load on your system to heat it up that much, I'd hate to think what something more taxing like Bioshock 2 would do to it. RedVexHK
I'd say you need to invest in one of these. an no.. I'm not promoting the site.. just showing you what to buy. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=804&name=Expansion%20Slot%20Fans all of these fit in a PCI slot and are quite capable of moving plenty of air out of your case. Just an idea...and at the price.. an economical idea.

I got one too, but wish I'd gone for the 1200 had to slide the hard drive bays a quarter inch forward to get my 5970 in. And your gonna think I'm nuts but today I just fitted another 3 fans in the side panel, one of them a 225mm lol, now its cool in there
Dark0ne
I've always been one for silent operation over heat efficiency. I like my computer to be seen but not heard because there's nothing more irritating than hearing the whirrrr of your fans during the quiet moments of gaming or movie watching. With that in mind you should never need more than two fans: one bringing air in and one bringing air out. Get silent operating fans and lower their RPMs to reduce noise even more. Anything after that is overkill unless you're running dual GPUs or something silly.
