postal001
Except most politicians are in it for money + power, whatever party they're in. It's just another career for them.
xENJAJVEx
As long as the people of America choose a President of the U.S.A. with Agenda 21at the very top of their priorities then I wish them the best of luck for the future. :)I wouldn't like to see America become an "in it for themselves" country whilst the rest ofus are working hand in hand towards world peace/unification, and ironing out the creases. EnaiSiaion
The natural state for a capitalist society is libertarianism. Of course, the natural state for any animal is some variant of beating each other to a pulp, so no surprise there. At least getting rid of leftist policies (either directly by voting right or indirectly by using technology to bypass legal structures ie bitcoins/Uber/3D printed guns) is more honest. You don't care about anyone who's not a friend or family member, so why should there be laws to make you care? The only reason for laws to exist is so certain groups of people can take power away from certain other groups of people, but they are all acting for their own benefit to the detriment of someone else. Hell, the only reason why this very site exists is so people can compete for attention. That's why society needed religion: "divine" laws and teachings typically benefit society as a whole by restricting the individual's power to sabotage each other (it is a fact that you can achieve more when everyone is working towards a common goal as opposed to fighting each other) by threatening them with fire and brimstone if they harm society to benefit themselves. With the decline of religion, we're seeing a trend back towards unrestricted selfishness and it's hard to see what would stop this before the world turns into Commoragh around 2100 or so. kvnchrist
I have no fear of an idea. A conservative friend of mine, who has sence passed on became unglued when he hard that President Obama had been elected. He too pointed out the socialist nature of the presidents platform. I told him and I'll tell anyone else that America has been dabbling in socialism sence the 40's. There has been a cultural war on these lines building up through the years and I think it is high time that we actually see, upfront just what socialism, in it's fullness is and if it would work as a viable economic force in America. I hated the idea of the House on Unamerican activities and I despised the idea of others being demonized and blackballed because of their ideas. I think the same for those ass holes who call for those who against gay marriage to be fired because they speak their mind. I think they are backward and delusional, but I also think that the freedom of speech should be held above all other issues, sense all other issues are dependent on their being articulated. Don't hate people who speak their minds. Hate those who claim to be protecting us from speech, sense thy are the ones who are claiming we are too stupid to make desisions for ourselves and that we need them to think for us. seany65
I find it quite sad, (in the proper sense of the word), that a large proportion of the population of the richest country in the world can not only live with the fact that 10's of millions of other Americans either have limited, or no, access to medical care, but can actively choose to keep that situation in order to save themselves a few dollars per year. And from the little I've read elsewhere, didn't the Republicans have similar ideas to 'Obamacare' in the 70's, supported by the Heritage Foundation in the 80's and 90's and implemented by Mitt Romney in the 2000's? The Libertarianism that Capitlaist believe in, is the freedom of the rich to do what they want, and 'thrpppp!' to the poor. The much-vaunted 'Socialism' of Obama is not Socialism, it is an attempt at amelioration of some of the worst effects of Capitalism, in order to stop the poor becoming so angry at the society they live in that they revolt. That is all that any Capitalist politician is prepared to do for the poor. Edited November 6, 2014 by seany65
