dwellufool
So, it's been quite a while in computer years since the release of Oblivion, and Oblivion GOTY. I was snooping around Bethesda's site and Youtube like I do every few months to see if there was any word on the next part of Elder scrolls, all I've come across was a "Project origin", which infact looked nice as far as player models. This just brings me to wonder, what do you expect and want from the next installment? Dwarf!Personally, I want some damn Dwarfs. I wouldn't even play them, I just found it odd that we had Dwarf armor in Oblivion but no Dwarfs themselves. They would probably be generic to LotR's, but I don't care. Most LotR games weren't really good, and all of them never really went into lore that wasn't straight from the books and movies. The MMO looks dull, and everyone says it is, so I figure I'll pass on that until the mechanics meet the lore's significance. Multiplayer? The one thing that could have made Oblivion the greatest game I've ever played was possibly multiplayer, mainly for platform play even though I only play Oblivion on a PC anymore. Like, arenas with other players that didn't effect the quest, LAN party playability for 2-4 maybe, and an ability to play without those you were in a LAN with. That all sounds difficult, and there would be many flaws, but when there's a will there's a way. More "bad guy" opportunity. A lot of people complain "Bethesda forced you to be a good guy how lame." but it makes sense they would, if you could go blowing up Cyrodiil there wouldn't be a reason for there to be another installment, so what I mean is more ways to be evil evil. Not thieves guild evil, the "thief/light evil" was nailed IMO, but all I got for being the bad man on one of my characters was Dark Brotherhood n' the ability to go kill some people. I'd want there to be more evil guilds, one's that wouldn't blow up the planet, but ones that kill, steal, overthrow, and multiple evil guilds that conflict. If there were say two evil evil factions fighting each other to be "the" evil faction with slight effect on Cyrodiil, then, a medium quest chain for "wreaking havok" if you won said battle. This would give the bad guys more stuff to do, and be able to minimize effect on the very end seeing as they'd focus on killing one another for dominance next to taking out cities. (which would be neat if we could take out a few villages and towns, amirite?) Pals.By pals I mean something like CM partners had to offer, with a "band of heroes" feel to it. There would probably be many people you could work with, good, bad, little of both, to help you on quests set specifically for that group you're in, and maybe personal quests you'd take up if you didn't have a group. They would have their effect on the main quest, then possible split after that purpose is served and help you later or you help them.(<ex) This might also be a way to make multiplayer possible if a person was to take the roll of one of the characters for the time they're there or some such. "(<ex)"Example of what I mean there, you are your two buds Bob and Moses have finished aiding you and your faction in something that would progress the main quest, that you couldn't do without your powerful friends Bob and Moses. You go your seperate ways, Bob to Bravil, his hometown, to take up captain of the guard or some such. Moses, back to his deserts in Elyswer as a noble of some city he's from. They would ask for you help later, possibly help you, and maybe you would meet up later again at some point for a climatic part or important part (slaying, final battle, betrayal, sacrifice.) This would make the game overall multi-dimensional, like many games put into one steady and firm storyline. Thing is, this is all optional, you might turn down this aid and not get any quest lines that come with it. That's all I'll post up here, but now I want to know what you think should/shouldn't be there, and maybe what you'd see wrong with my ideas or someone else's. *Something I forgot*The ability to play multiple players (1-3 maybe) in the same save world. By this I mean you have a bad guy character, a good guy character, and another random character all playing the same world. Like, your evil character destroys a village, and your good guy character builds a new one. The good guy could go and see that village is destroyed, and the bad guy see the new village. They wouldn't be able to directly effect each other, just the surroundings and things going on with NPCs.
ub3rman123
The reason there's no dwarves is because in the lore, dwarves were all wiped out by the gods for Kagrenac's doings.Check out this page for more information. Although the lore says nothing about halflings or gnomes. If I recall correctly, it was mentioned some in the LotR books that halflings exist hiding in the deserts to the south, but ES isn't LotR. I don't think Bethesda would risk releasing multiplayer. As modders, we can release projects in whatever working state we dang well please, so people won't complain much if it's buggy and doesn't work right. But people expect Bethesda's products to be perfect and bugless. So if they released a multiplayer anywhere similar in quality to the ones already released, they'd be drowned in a torrent of angry fans. Then again, they have access to the source engine... dwellufool
I dunno why I'd miss that with the bits of Lore I read, which was plenty. I'd still like to see one... or a .. skeleton? Something. Half-breeds maybe if they even allow those with shorter races, I know they do with Orcs/Humans. Multiplayer is hard to get with all the modding people would be expecting, which is why they might make the multiplayer Platform exclusive, I never hear of many mods on recent things like Xbox360 that don't get you banned from online play or some such, that might give the opportunity of Arenas 1p v 1p instead of an NPC v 1p since modding wouldn't be an issue. Then again, if the " ` kill " sticks around it might just be unfeasible. I'd love to see it, though. T.T
Hickory
In Oblivion, Dwarves or Dwemmer, were mer (ie. Elves) and not the kind of Dwarves you see in LOTR.
phreatophile
Things I'd like to see in the next Elder Scrolls game: Better looking characterswomen should not look like dudes with breasts. How about some variation. Tall people, short people, Fat people...an be allowed to select this at character creation. Longer more involved main questWho didn't blow through Oblivion's MQ in no time. More thought, less handholdingIn the dark brotherhood questline, when you're killing off the Draconis family, or hunting down that rude dark elf (I'll turn your bones to ash!) you can pull up the map for a little green pointer to exactly where on the road he is. Thats a little much. The ablility to take either side in the main and faction questsSome times you just want to be evil, I would also love to have sided with Mannimarco against those stuck-up mages guild types or fought for the blackwood company. How about joining the guards and hunting down the dark brothers and thieves. Dual wielding of at least daggers (should be up to longsword)Seriously, a stealth character would most likely fight this way. There would have to be a downside, of course, even something like in Baldur's gate where you don't get full damage with either weapon until higher(est) level. Better Ranged CombatI'm not looking for full on VATS from fallout. Though I'd love the cinematic weapon strikes from VATS. On second thought that would be perfect, because in fallout you were free to avoid VATS altogether and just use the crosshairs or not. Blood and GoreIt's a Mature rated game. If I just killed someone with a sword or an axe they would not be on the ground afterward looking like they died in their sleep. Imagine the occasional view following your arrow as it hurtles across the landscape to end up burried up to the fletch in your enemy's skull. The slowed down cinematic view as you behead your enemy. BoatsMounted CombatCities in Worldspace (like in Morrowind)Actually, I'm wasting space; the developers should look at the top 100 or so mods on the Nexus and do that. Reason being: if someone took the massive amount of effort needed to create the mods that do these things and 10000 or so people downloaded it and a few thousand bothered to come back and endorse it, the modification probably would have been a good idea in the first place. MadMike710
I'm sure Bethesda probably tried very hard to make the game as versatile as possible but it just seems that there isn't enough options and variation, like after a while things just get boring. Such as if you enjoy raiding caves and ayleid ruins everything just seems too familiar even if you've never been there before.I think they should make different tilesets. If I'm not explaining properly I'm sorry.. I'm not good at getting my points across. lol And I agree with the "variation on characters" with the fat and thin options. sclerocephalus
Would be fine if they eventually had an idea on how to put wheels to a good use - other than as parts of dis-functional carts people use to decorate their gardens with.
ub3rman123
I'm hoping they don't rush it and cut most of the features for an XBox release, like they did with Oblivion. That's why Oblivion needs so many mods, because the game got rushed at the end and the half-done things had to be cut so Oblivion could be a launch game for the new XBox. Are any major consoles coming out in the next 2-3 years?
Nakuvamp
A better combat system, don't get me wrong it is fine the way it is but its kinda dull, ever play Dark Messiah? its not the best game in the world but it has an EXCELLENT combat system IMO id like to see you wounds, dynamic fighting thats more skillful, some gruesomeness i wanna finish my foe by sticking a sword through his gut and kicking him off my blade , i wanna bash him with my shield and stab him and or slash him, i want to block and parry and i want the enemy to do it right back, i want to physically see damage done to weapons/Armour, i want stabbing/slashing to matter like stabs being more effective on chain mail, i want to stealth kill people in a better way than just doing like triple damage when i slash him i want to slice some throats or stab their necks/spines (maybe have it made that if they are a much higher level or are significantly stronger there is a chance they will notice at the last second and block it forcing u to fight them fairly), having open deaths mean something like people are actually concerned when they see a dead comrade and they don't know what happened, also i'd like better Ai (like guards not knowing magically that you committed a crime, guilds not kicking u out simply because you broke a rule but NO ONE saw you do it), and crimes not counting if all people who saw it couldn't report it or if a guard saw you do it and was alone and you kill him no crime has been committed to the knowledge of everyone else and i know those last few have been addressed in mods but you said in the game id like to see it implemented into the official game simply because to me modding should be more about content and not having to add fixes for things that shouldn't have been an issue to begin with
Kagemitsu
Multiplayer is all I'd like to see really. It doesn't have to be a huge multiplayer experience like a MMO, I'd be happy with a co-op mode with 2-4 people, and maybe make the world persistent.Sorta like, when you log in alone you can do stuff on your own, whoever logs after you finds the world the way you left it (aka cleared dungeons, merchants got the stuff you sold them and so on), or just go adventuring together. ;) I'd also like to see an extremely huge world like Daggerfall, with pretty much endless chances of exploration. (Let's face it, Cyrodill is kinda small lol).
