Vindekarr
Well then in that case they gate my hatred too. Lets face another important fact: a lot of these current crop of steam games are absolute rubbish in how they use it.
ub3rman123
Take my Modern Warfare 2 for example.... Please give a different example. Modern Warfare 2 isn't the only game that uses steam you know. Due to the Steam/Windows Live combination, I'm still wanting my money back for Dawn of War II I never got to play. Vindekarr
God, you didnt get to play it? Take it from me Uber, they owe you double for that one, it's REALLY good.
ub3rman123
I did play it, eventually, just that I had to go to a friend's house to get it to work. It installed on his computer well enough, for some reason.
KDStudios
This thread is a prime example as to why it was a really poor choice to use STEAM.They obviously never searched the web to find if anyone has problems with it and at the sheer magnitude of it also.On release it's obvious STEAM is going to fail us somehow... Not sure yet. But you can guarantee something will happen.. STEAM crash maybe? I've seen reports of that happening after purchases...Then Obsidian will be getting LOADS of messages about it and they will simply turn their heads and say "Not their problem but our people are looking into it"Thats what they ALL say.I've yet to see a game company actually care more about a customers gaming experience than their back pocket. Gracinfields
Actually what caused the biggest issue for Dawn of War II was Games for Windows Live, had to go to their forums and search though alot of post to find a home made fix to get it to work on release day, it took Microsoft over a week to fix it. The same issue occured for Section 8 and GFWL last time I was on Section 8 9 months ago it was never fixed. So far I guess I have been lucky with Steam and have any issue with it, granted the only two games I played on line with Steam was L4D and Battlefield BadCompany 2 which I haven't had any lag spikes due to the program. @Vindekarr You really can't blame steam for the issues with MW2, the lack of dedicated servers and moderators was Infinity Wards decission and not Values. However Value was the one left holding the bag for IWs screw ups.
evilneko
And how much in Vindekarr's examples are actually the fault of Steam, rather than the developer of the game in question? Yeah. Not as bad when you look at it that way, huh.
niceguy2810
Sounds funny, but cool. I love playing Fallout so i am very excited! :)
KDStudios
We are all excited about Fallout and can't wait for it. But what we all dreading is Steam...I still think it's going to be a pain.So I'm going to wait and look at all the problems before purchasing (Sorry guys who buy on release day and have problems, But your struggle will be my education) ;) haha... DarkZerker
There's no point in a SINGLEPLAYER game being on a very big board of MULTIGAMING people. I mean, if a game like Modern Warfare or Team Fortress is on Steam, I'm happy. Heck, Valve games should be on Steam because of the regular updates and add-ons but Fallout New Vegas would have no point. Especially since New Vegas would most likely have DLC updates and not packs. NO POINT. I love steam for multiplayer...not this.
